SAT Discussion for International Students-Diff test!

whew ok peachjelly thats nice to hear haha
did you have any weird question from the CR section?
btw, was the disneyland section experimental?
people who took the makeup test in march (korea) said that disney was experimental (dont no how they found it out, considering everyone had 4 CR sections) but do you think its possible that CB would use same section as dummy again?
ALso, did we have sections with 25 and 18 questions, which is not normal?

thanks

OK, I haven't read the whole thread, but some posts here and there. Do you guys think that math was easier than usual or harder? At first I thought that it was pretty easy, but I think I might have found some mistakes... And I'm a little worried about the curve. What do you think?

It wasn't hard but it was tricky. I think the curve will be like october's if not more lenient

btw did anyone get -1 for the question with symbols like a#b=b#a (where # is some function). I plugged in my calculator, and i got two possible answer 2 and -1. Only -1 was the answer. Anyone confirm?

Hi Atomicbomb22,
Remember the math one? Where it was
a triangle b = a/b + 1 --- 1
ab<0 --- 2
a triangle b = b triangle a --- 3
Statement 3 indicates that
a/b + 1 = b/a + 1
a/b = b/a
a^2 = b^2
+/- a = +/- b (i.e. a can be -1, b can be 1, and a^2 = b^2 still)

By statement 2, we deduce that a and b must have opposite signs, therefore
a = -b

The question asks "What is a triangle b" I think, therefore
a triangle b = a/-a + 1 = -1 + 1 = 0.

I put 0.

I got tricked twice.. I guess I can't count! I thought the number of values from 2 - 59 was 59, and for some wild reason I got 1982 instead of '83.

Otherwise.. I think I did okay. My friend (who did the SAT in May 07) got 2 wrong and that was 770! Will our curve be as harsh?!

Btw how will we know which section was experimental?

oh yea sorry. a/b was equal to -1 and then you add one and answer was zero. I got the same answer.

2 was the answer if u used b=a and b=1

I got 2 first and was like ***t??!! Luckily ti-89 solved it for me :D

do u remember any of the no error ones?

i think one was a sentence that ended with ".. long since lost???" or something like that neway.. haha

another one i was confused with was the one starting with "perspective workers... "

and there was another one soemthing like "perhaps as a consequence of a war that erupted...." what did u guys get for these questions?

and for the cola company one, it's "their colas", not "each of their colas" rite?

thanx

the cola one ticked me off

and "perspective" is a diction error - should be "prospective"

wait....how did you solve a/b + 1 = 0 with a calculator?

so hold up. about how many kids who are native english speakers are taking this test, and how many foreigners? i need to know who we are up against!

Haha, you guys had "gerrymandering" and "filibuster" Reminds me of political science...

I'm native but the "gerrymandering" "filibuster" owned me

omg, did the math question ask for a/b +1....?

^^on your ti-89 you put "solve(a/b+1=b/a+1,b) and you get a=-b and a=b as your answers. Plug in and u get:

-b/b+1=0
b/b+1=2

0 was only answer. Thank god for ti-89 lol :D

Can somone else pleaaasssse list some vocab questions that were on the experimental section (other than gerrymandering). I also found out that the lullaby passage was experimental.

hey atomic bomb, so are u sure that disney passage, not the lulluby one, is the experimental?? how did u find out??

The constellation and the weatherman one has to be experimental....no doubt ;)

the lullaby and disneyland were on the same section. Lullaby was a short passage (3 questions) and disney was the following long passage. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

hm atomic bomb, i think lullaby and african (am I right?) were together
and the MEDICINE and the STOIC MAN passages were together with disneyland....
again, this is what i think..

how do we know which one's experimental? Are these hunches?

Doesn't collegeboard tell us eventually which section was experimental?

//Edit: I think collegeboard will update the following link soon:
