I recently heard some colleges actually care about the sat essay. wen I submit the score report, do they read my essay or is it just the score?

They get the essay.

And for whatever college you’re interested in, google the “college name” + “common data set” and find the section that talks about the SAT essay. Some colleges may ignore the essay completely, while others may use it for admission, placement, and as a check on the validity of your application essays.

College admissions people only ‘care’ about the essay if you get a lower than a 7 or 8. Lower than that and they’ll question your writing ability and look to other parts of your application to see if the trend of sub-par writing skills continues.

If you get a 12, bravo. If you get an 8, don’t be at all worried… college adcoms realize that a 25 minute essay about a random topic doesn’t do a very good job of demonstrating one’s writing prowess.

Thats wierd, how do they check validity based on a score? Does scroing low automatically make u incredulous?

^ Like I said, they get the essay.

So if you seem completely illiterate on the SAT essay (as in it’s clear you can’t write at all, not just because you didn’t write something great in 25 minutes) but are brilliant on your application essays, that could be a problem. That would be my assumption based on the information available
