I got into Penn ED, and I'm looking to place out of language with the SAT / AP in French. I'm currently signed up for the May SAT French subject test. Am I allowed to take an SAT subject test after being admitted if it's for placement purposes? I'm afraid I won't get a 4/5 on the exam, and I don't want to continue my French studies over the summer to take an actual Penn placement test. I'm just hoping that it's OK that i'm taking an SAT after getting in...

So yeah...totally legal right?

If not, well, any AP French tips?

--

as for my other backup plan.. How hard is the placement test for Chinese?

Same question here :(

and i’m going to take the SATII for spanish to test out as well.
we’re in the same boat. =]

There has been a thread on this before.
Upshot was, yes, you can take the SAT II pretty much any time for the language placement.
Can’t speak to how hard the placement tests are, though.

Will I be able to pass it if I can read and converse like a native Chinese speaker but can write nothing other than number one to ten… oh, and my name.

i have devoted my whole second semester to getting a 650 on that may french sat ii hahaha…

^that’s pretty much what i’m going to do…wowzers though. i only have a month left! yikes!!!

comment sont tes etudes?
je ne peux pas parler francais.

I bought the princeton review book for it… also I’m in my fourth year of french… Mais, personne ne dit je peux le parler.

Code Monkey: I dont know about the placement test but I know the Chinese AP test was pretty easy. It doesnt really matter all that much if you can’t write because the writing part is only pingying. If you know Pingying and can recognize the right words, then you are set.

To the OP: AP french…well, it was kinda hard, even for native speakers. Take Cougar’s advice and buy a study book. So I hope that you can still take the SAT test because that was much much much easier than the AP one.
