SAT II Biology Study Plan for the 800.

Hi guys,

So I’m planning to take the SAT II Biology test (probably M) in October. I’ll describe my current situation to you

I just finished 11th grade, so I can’t take AP biology before taking the subject test. It will be too late. However, I have read the first 20 chapters of Campbell’s biology. Therefore, I know all of the molecular biology concepts covered on the test, but I am clueless about the ecology, physiology, etc. portions.

My goal is 800, or very close to an 800. Here’s a study plan I was thinking of:

  • Read through Barron's SAT II Biology book, taking detailed notes and making flashcards while doing so. ~2 weeks.
  • Read through PR SAT II Biology book, without taking notes. ~1 week.
  • Take all practice tests from Barron's, PR, and take the CB test. For each question I am slightly unsure of/incorrect, read in-depth on the topic from Campbell's textbook or a prep book. ~ 3 weeks.

How does this plan look? I would really appreciate any suggestions, comments, or advice about the test, prep books, resources, or past experience with the test. I am willing to work very hard to obtain a good score.

Thanks in advance.

Bump. I would really appreciate any advice from people who have taken the test before and scored well. Thanks!

Hey @SJNccc,
I took the May test (M) and managed to score an 800. My study plan is detailed below:
Read Barron’s
Read Princeton Review
Read Barron’s
Take practice tests - at least 8
Read Princeton Review again, one day before the test.
I was initially stressing a lot because I never got an 800 on a practice test. If you happen to find yourself in a similar position, just keep in mind that a lower score won’t kill you and that, eventually, all of your hard work will pay off like mine did.

Did you take AP Bio?
