Hey guys! I'm currently a Sophomore, and I'm in honors Biology. Would it be wise to take the SAT II Biology test in June? I'm not taking AP Biology till senior year because I heard College Board is making changes to the course. I've already made my course selections for next year, so there's no chance that I'll be taking Ap Biology next year. What should I do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I’m a freshman taking honors bio and our teacher is encouraging us to go for it if our practice tests get more than 700. If you think you bombed on the day of the test, you can nullify your score so colleges won’t see it at all. Use the SAT review books like Barrons, Kaplan and Princeton, and you should be good. If you’re not an A student it’s still ok–usually the B students are the one with perfect scores because they don’t second-guess themselves. Hope this helped.

You should take a practice test to get a feel for the kind of questions they ask, and go from there. I think Honors Bio probably goes into about the amount of detail you will need for the Sat II Bio. I took the Sat II Bio junior year having not taken a bio class since freshman year, studied the Princeton Review (Kaplan, Barrons, etc. are also good) for it, and got a 750 (a decent enough score). I’m in AP Bio this year and it’s almost like information overload - wayyyy more detail than the Sat II!
Still, I’d recommend looking at sample questions.

Thanks
Do you know where I could find a good practice test?

I’m in AP Bio now. Does that mean I’m all set for the SAT II bio?

The CollegeBoard site offers some Bio E/M practice questions, although I think they’re so much easier than what’s on the test.

The online Sparknotes site has five free practice tests.

Wow, I never knew. Thanks so much!

Okay I bombed my first practice test . ugh.
I guess taking it in June’s a bad idea.
Maybe October?

how accurate are the Sparknotes Biology test?

I’m sure that if you’ve taken AP Biology you’ll be fine for the SATs. Yes, Sparknotes is actually very very good.

If you are using the big Campbell book, you will be well covered.
