SAT II Chemistry & bio

Hello All,

I will be taking two SAT subjects tests (bio and chem) in dec. I started chem prep earlier this month with the kaplan 2005-2006 edition. is this a good prep book? I've been reading thru ur miscellaneous posts and it seems like every1 has some positive to say about PR or barrons---what about kaplan? I've gone thru the entire book once, and intend to go thru it a total of 4 more times. I think that it's pretty good--but i'd like the opinion of seasoned vets who have already taken the test and/or used the kaplan chem book as prep.

i've j/ordered the kaplan bio 06-07 edition. Is this good enough to help prep me for the sat bio test? I took the bio sat last yr and scored a 600 (PR and kaplans), but if I study like crazy for the bio exam (basically memorization), i should get above a 750, right?

are there any analytical questions that i should be overly prepped for?

thx for any help that u can offer this newbie.

Be sure you've gotten the hang of the T/F/CE questions for the Chemistry SAT II test. You want to have a good idea of the correct answer for each question the first time around, or you'll start doubting yourself with second-guesses (such as when Collegeboard decides to throw in more completely true, correct explanation answers than one would expect).

I can't speak for the books though; I just used CliffsAP since I had been taking the course already.

You have plenty of time to prepare!

yeah, if you memorize the kaplan bio book you should do fine, actually your score on the kaplan will be very close to what you get on the test (unless if the circumstances are different).

On the Kaplan's bio practice tests I got around the 770's, ended up with a 780 on the real thing

thx for the responses! Alrighty then, i'm confident about the bio sat....what about chem? U mentioned that u used AP CliffsNotes--is that super-good prep for the test? Also, what were ur scores, if u don't mind divulging? =)

They're good for a quick review, but not for content when you're learning things in class or doing some reading ahead.

I got 5s and 800s on both, but that's not saying a lot when I'm a prospective biochemistry major..
