SAT II Chemistry.

I'm taking it in January. I have Kaplan but for some reason I'm having alt of trouble using the book. I don't know it it's the layout of the material or what. Do you guys know if there are better books?

I know that Barron's is good for AP Chem, so maybe Barron's would be good for the SAT II as well.

The best for the SAT II is, without a doubt, princeton review. Barrons is overkill for both AP and the SAT II.

Barron's or PR? I already have Barron's SAT II Bio; it's okay but has alot of useless details...

I started with Kaplan too, but I didn't like it very much. I used PR afterwards and it was so much better.

so PR it is.

Use Barron's!!! I love it, and even though there are lots of "useless details" those details aren't so useless! There's always something random that comes up, and Barron's is awesome for that.

I used PR the first time I took the test right after I wrote my final exam for chemistry, and did horribly...after using Barron's almost a year after finishing my chemistry course, I went up 100 points! Barron's ROCKS!

Hahahaha, I guess we're all different. The Barron's book made me want to cry! But then again, I really am not too good at chemistry. Or standardized tests, for that matter. I'm using Princeton Review. :]

Barron's helped me get an 800. It has some useless stuff but the practice tests prepare you well for the real test

Barron's is really tough, but I found it to be the most helpful one. It does give a lot of info that isn't quite pertinent to the actual Chem SAT II, but it never hurts to know more than you need to know. PR is pretty good, too, although I found that the questions in it were easier than the actual test. That's just me, though. Kaplan didn't work out for me.

i suggest you use it along with sparknotes or another more detailed prep book, cuz PR doesn't cover some concepts regarding the electron configuration.

I got an 800 w/ Kaplan's. But the main thing is that you just take as many practice tests as possible to gauge the areas which you don't understand.

I've been doing Kaplan Practice Tests and, well..I don't really think that the real test is going to be like that.
Would using two books be a good idea or would that confuse me? Like Both PR and Barron's or some other combination?

if you are using Barron's, you probably wouldn't need to use another book for study material - just make sure you have enough time
but you might want to use other books for practice tests, since Barron's has a lot of information you will not need

I do have Barron's and I've been trying to use that and Kaplan. But the tests vary alot in difficulty. And the questions are quite different.

true, do tests from both if you have the time
but try to do a test from the "Official Study Guide" - it's the real deal
