SAT II Chemistry question

Hey guys, I’ve got a simple question for anyone who have taken SAT II Chemistry before.

Do I need to know non-IUPAC method of naming, especially in the organic chemistry section? The Barron’s prep book is giving me non-IUPAC method of naming, and I’m not sure if I have to know them or not. For example, diethyl ether can be named ethoxyethane, but it’s not IUPAC method. Also another example: ethyl ethanoate can be named non-IUPACally as ethyl acetate. (pretty sure that “non-IUPACally” is not a word but lol I got 800 on SAT writing w/ 80MC so…)

It is unnecessary. The complex naming system is hardly tested on the real test. I think you just need to remember the basic ones.

I doubt it you will need that. There are very few Ochem questions and usually basic and not tricky. Saturation, resonance, some bond stuff (sigma, pi etc), some general understanding of alcohol and such.
How is your studying going?

Thanks, @am9799! MY studying’s going pretty good. I just need to review some stuff and I believe that I’ll be ready for the test. Thanks for the support!
