i got a 620 on my sat ii writing cuz a marching band was practicing outside my room (no joke). will georgetown seriously penalize me for the score? i dont know if its an admissions factor or a placement thing...i got a 750 on literature, so its evident that i have a strength in english, and im also in ap english this year. thanks so much for responding, im making myself sick over these damn tests.

damn those marching bands!!! wut kind of a loser participates with twinkies?

wut is ur SAT II math score? And your gpa? And your SAT I scores? ECs?

math is NOT my strength...i didnt finish the test (again, *ing band), so 570. *ing shoot me. sat Is: 1390 740v 650m. gpa:3.9 ecs: went to gtown 2 summers in a row for programs, took 2 gtown classes so i already have credit there, greatly involved in jsa (2 positions on cabinet and secretary of my chapter) and forensics (recieved various awards for my ld debate performance). im also a urm, im colombian.

obviously thats not all i do, but thats the quickest thing to write. on avg, jsa and forensics take up about 40 hours of my life per week, considering all the work i put into them and the tournaments, conventions, and conferences i attend.

I don't know anything about Gtown other than that everybody who applies has higher SAT scores than me. I think that you desperately need your JSA participation and SAT I to supplement the subject tests.

i got a 750 lit and a 680 us history, plus a 5 on the us history ap exam and a 4 on ap bio...im not a testing failure, lol, its just those 2.

I never called you a testing failure. And for me...it is just two tests that kill my chances: math and verbal.

Well, it's not just you, but how you compare to the rest of the pool.

And of course, how well you present yourself.

I'd say: don't worry about it. Your verbal strengths are bound to show. Just because I couldn't get past 680 on my SAT verbal, doesn't mean that I can't speak English.. I got a 5 on the AP English and 780 on Writing, so I'm pretty much in the same boat as you (just a different category, that's all)..

:: crosses fingers :: Georgetown is my first choice so hopefully.. both and all of us getin.

did u prepare for writing? anything outside of school's curriculum? if so, wut?

I did not prepare for writing. Nothing outside the standard school curriculum. I just like to write, that's all. And got really lucky with the essay and such.. I can talk and write indefinitely about broad topics like the ones given on the SAT II Writing..

I studied for about a day before the test.. just looked over the types of questions (Princeton Review and Sparknotes helped a lot in this regard).. for about 2 or three hours.. nothing more..

I definitely didn't take the SAT IIs. Hopefully my 800 verbal will impress them enough. :/

:/ .... ???

:/ = hopefully they won't care that I didn't take the SAT IIs

SAT II Subject Tests

Candidates are also requested to submit results from at least three SAT II Subject Tests, including writing and two other appropriate to their area of interest. Applicants to the Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics should include a modern language SAT II among these tests.

Yes, but II's aren't required for EA applicants (thankfully!). But if you are deferred to RD, or are an RD applicant outright, II's are required.

Good point, but where else can you apply without any IIs?

OK... I know that my scores eliminate me from acceptance when compared to the applicant pool. But... I am applying to SFS because it is there and I like it! I was signed up to retake the SAT IIs this saturday, and I decided that I will substitute retaking chemistry with Spanish. "Applicants to the Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics should include a modern language SAT II among these tests."
I am in AP Spanish, I am a gringo, and my Spanish just isn't that great.... what is the caliber of score of a prospective SFS student?

gpa=4.3 math=650 verbal=630 iic=760 chem=700 writing=630 (writing and spanish this Saturday)

Hey, I have the same spanish stats. AP span, white as can be, my vocab and reading and comprehension are good but my grammar is hellish.

I'm taking writing and spanish on saturday too, I hope spanish has a good curve or something.

I have 790 Lit/740 W (retaking)/680 Math iiC, 800V/700M; so will a bad spanish score hurt me?

Wow! your writing score already rox the Casbah!
