SAT II Latin June 2016

Anyone taking the SAT II Latin exam this weekend? (I know we Latin students are sparse, but there’s got to be someone out there). I’ve only been able to get my hands on 3 practice tests (one from blue book, two from REA SAT Latin). I made an 800 on the blue book test, but I still feel like I’m lacking practice (not trying to say that in a humble-brag way lol) It’s just that the dearth of SAT Latin material makes me feel a lot more unprepared for this test than other subject/standardized tests.

Any suggestions for last-minute studying/practice? :slight_smile:

I am! I’m also taking WH. I am very scared of this test, as I am an international student and the questions on the Latin SAT are very different from the ones I’m used to ^^ So any tips are usefull!

My DD is taking the Latin test too. We tried to order the book but everyone was sold out :frowning: She has two practice tests she has taken and both were very different than what she learned in her three years of Latin in school. She did very well on all three National Latin exams, but still…any help is appreciated!

@AllyssXx @pink316 If you haven’t already taken it, here is the link to the CB official (blue book) test:

My impression is that the Latin test is similar to the NLEs (around level 3-4) besides culture. There are more reading comprehension passages on SAT Latin. SAT Latin (practice tests) seem to like to test grammar exceptions a lot too. However, the curve seems to be quite generous. The BB indicates that answering all and missing 8 would still be a perfect 800.

@tauisgood
Thanks a lot for that test! I haven’t taken it yet, and I will this afternoon

I took Latin a couple of years back, and from my experience (and from others), the exam is fairly difficult but generous on the curve. It’s all relative, so to speak–pretty much no one has copious review material like one would for a test like Biology E/M or Chemistry. The best practice–in addition to taking whatever practice tests you can find–is looking at old Level III or IV NLE exams and answering the passage-based questions. They’re pretty much identical in structure and intent as are the majority of the ones on the Subject Test. Good luck!

Wow… This test was… Definately less difficult than I had expected ^^

I took it. Didn’t seem terrible…isn’t it like -8 for an 800?

Wasn’t super difficult, but I have no idea how I did. I wouldn’t be surprised with anywhere from 600 to high 700s. I usually had a general idea of what was going on, but wasn’t all that confident in my answers

And now we wait…I think until July 21st to find out scores?

Yep, July 21st
