Sat Ii Scores

On a couple of apps they give 2 spots to fill in sat II scores...... I already got a 790 to report in bio, but for the 2nd one, should i report a 770 math IIC (which has a low percentage), or a 740 US. History (which has a higher percentage)?

Higher score, admissions officers don't see the percentiles.

However, "everybody" knows that the SAT Math IIc has a very high grading curve.

yes but... scores are supposed to represent acheivment in a field, and because many talanted math students tak IIC the curve is high

SISIS: If everyone did well on the Math IIC, then the curve would be terrible. The reason it's generous is because people take it, not knowing what they're getting into. They do poorly, which pushes up the entire curve, to the benefit of those who are better math students.

The scaled scores are more important than the percentile because they show more evidence of achievement. The tests that fewer and more advanced students take are the ones where the CB sets the average scaled score to be higher. The following is from http://www.ivywest.com/satiifaq.htm. According to this thinking, the OP should list the Math IIC score instead of the US Hist.

"Percentile scores on the SAT Subject Tests are extremely misleading because not every student takes the Subject Tests and those students who do, don't all take the tests in the same subjects. For example, the only people who bother to take the Physics test are those that are excellent at Physics. A score of 600 on the Physics test places you in only the 38th percentile, while a 600 on the Chemistry test puts you in the 47th percentile. This difference, however, does not mean you stand a better chance of admission with a 600 in Chemistry rather than Physics. The scaled scores are meant to represent similar levels of achievement and are a much better indicator of how well you did than the misrepresentative percentile scores."

all i know is, math 2c is the easiest subject test by far

The math 2c has the highest scaled scores than any of the other SAT II tests, but only people who are really good at math and taken the advanced math classes take the test. Having the higher scaled scores is meant to recognize that fact.

That is true of all the SAT II tests. Everyone takes the SAT I and the mean score is the mean for all people going to college. Only people applying to the competititive colleges even take SAT II's.

The mean SAT II scores for the most popular tests are:
• Literature: 590
• U.S. History: 590
• World History: 580
• Math Level 1: 580
• Math Level 2: 660
• Biology: 590
• Chemistry: 610
• Physics: 640
