How difficult is this test? I took AP last year but didn't take the SAT II right after. I'm looking to score 750+ by using just REA and AMSCO prepbooks. Will I need to read my AP textbook again?

Um I got an easy 5 on the AP but a 660 on this test. I blame the 9 weeks between the class and the test but idk =-/. I think just reviewing notes or w/e you did to summarize the text will suffice. Don't go reading that book again if you don't have to. I wouldn't do it for an 810.

I thought the test was pretty easy. There are quite a few questions, so you will have to work at a good pace, but the difficulty of the questions is pretty much on par with the AP multiple choice questions. Make sure you know your amendments (such as which amendment granted women's suffrage, etc), Supreme Court decisions (such as Brown v. Board of Education overturning Plessy v. Ferguson), and historical firsts (such as who was the first black woman cabinet member).

So am I pretty safe just reviewing with REA and AMSCO AP books? Questions shouldn't be that detailed right?

I say the question level is slightly more straight forward, but more obscure than AP. Take some practice tests to get a better feel.

The test was flat out HARD. Weird questions. AP was much easier.

I thought AP was easier too, but I didn't think the US History was hard. I got 4 on AP, and took the SAT the next day, and got a 740, and I didn't study for either exam specifically.

I got a 5 on the AP and I thought it was difficult. But there's a very, very good curve.

How did you guys study? What books did you all use?

I thought SAT 2 history was harder than AP, but for some reason, I got a 3 in AP and a 700 on SAT 2

I used the Barron's book for both, but I don't recommend it. I think you're set with just the AMSCO review book.

Hey.. I have taken a watered down US History course in my junior year and need to take the USH SATII. Is barron's good for reviewing and getting a 700+ or is it harder than the real test? if so, are there any other books I can study form?

It felt hard to me and but I don't consider myself to be good at history. I felt like I got a ton wrong but I stil got a 770 so you should be okay. I thought the AP MC questions were a lot easier (got a 5 on that). Take some practice tests... I definitely wouldn't reread the AP textbook haha TORTURE!! i mean maybe skim through it if you really love it...

Hmm...I got a 5 on the AP but a 660 on the SAT II, which really surprised me. But I suck at multiple choice, so I thought that the SAT II was harder. I'm pretty sure that the only reason I got a 5 on the AP was because of my essays. Unfortunately, there are no essays on the SAT II so there sucked majorly for me.

I got a 4 on the AP test and a 720 on the SAT II... The SAT II has some really obscure questions. Both tests are on the same level though. I guess you could say the SAT II is a little harder than the AP exam.

Looks like everyone's giving the overall same message.

I got a 5 on the AP, and just a 700 on the SAT II...
Took the AP test on Friday, and the SAT II the day after.

I started cramming for AP/SATII with a Kaplan's starting from the last Wednesday. First diagnostic test, I ended with a 530. I panicked, finished the whole book and the best score I got was a 670. If I can raise my score that much in a span of 3 days, I'm sure 6 weeks is an ample amount of time. By the way, I'm retaking it on October and have just started reviewing US History. But this time, I have 4 weeks ;).

Akor, what a coincidence!

i studied from the Kaplan too, and I raised my score from 610 in the diagnostic test to 750 in the first practice test, an addition of 140, just like you! lol I though that was cool.

However, does the score increase in practice test actually show an increase on the real one?

Are you guys tlaking about the AP US History book by Kaplan or the SATII US History book by Kaplan?

Absolutely. I think US History SAT II is all about knowing facts. Analysis in this test is minimal and should be relatively easy, especially if you took an AP/Honors level US History course.

By the way, I used SAT II by Kaplan. I didn't feel the need to prepare for DBQ's and essays as my class more than enough drilled me.

Hey akor, what did you get on the SATII by studying from the Kaplan book? Although It doesnt matter I guess since you took the AP class while I havent :(

REA is a pretty comprehensive review too if you have enough time.
