I just took the AP World History Test about a week ago and thought it was relatively easy, having prepared for it extensively the month before. However, I purchased a Barron's SAT II World History Prep book and looked through it and found it much harder than the AP curriculum. Everything is much more specific and I did very bad on the practice exams. Is taking an AP class enough to take the SAT II's? Or is the Barron's book not an accurate measure? I missed around 1/3 of the problems in the practice test, yet many people say that the SAT II test is a joke. Thanks.

i have the same issue...any comments?

I missed about a 1/3 as well...I think I got like, 70/103, or some rid number...but my cousins and brothers all got 800's without studying. I think that Barron's is overkill, like it is with everything else.

aren't there 95 ques. total?

yeah but barrons is like on drugs. they added like random q.

Regardless of whether Barrons is more difficult than the actual test or not, the SAT 2 test is more difficult than the AP test because the AP tests general trends while the SAT 2 is definitely more specific.

Last year, I got a 5 on the AP test and a 740 on the SAT 2 while my friend got a 4 on the AP test and a 790 on the SAT 2.

So basically, there's no doubt you can get a really good score. It's just a matter of sitting down and studying the material and details again.

what kind of "details" are we talking about here?
so...is compare/contrast and continuity not part of the test?

specific factual information
certain events, wars, results of events, stuff like that
btw that barrons practice test is BS...

how accurate are the kaplin tests?

So I guess I shouldn't measure the actual test with the Barrons one? Also, the Barrons version I have is from 2001 and maybe thats different than the one they're offering now?

Just for anybody else who is wondering, I just took the Collegeboard's official practice exam from World History and it's pretty easy, so at least Barron's is way more difficult than the actual thing.
