SAT II World History - June 4th

no they weren’t-- they had a strict social structure that was patriarchal… the Mother Goddess could be right but it didn’t necessitate any sort of matriarchal society

almostsk8r, how can it be that Buddhism both blended in and appealed to peasants because those were 2 choices for the same question

The answer choice about the Sumerian mother goddess said that she “reinforced a matriarchal social order”, which is definitely not correct, as no major civilization (by major, I mean the ones that could potentially be on the test) has ever had a matriarchal order. The fact that the Sumerians had a mother goddess is irrelevant in this case.

also david livingstone explored africa
mahayana had gods like buddhas, bodhavistaas, etc
marx thought capitalism would kill itself
im pretty sure the india picture was cultural, it said, “just a little more sacrifice”
budhism appealewd to the peasants of china (dbq like 2005 in ap world)
by the way, even in a previous cb question it asked for etruscans, estruscans lived where romans started living, plus etruscans adopted greek culture, I googled it, it seems etruscans were more influential
at this point ive got 5 wrong and left 2 blank, I hope we’ve all been discussing the harder questions, I hope I don’t get that many more wrong…

So far I have 8 skipped and 3-5 wrong, still equates to an 800… hopefully it stays that way I have to disagree with you, Whatdoyouthink, because it said the Romans at its HEIGHT. The other questions from the released exams said they adopted culture from the Etruscans originally. That’s why I chose Greeks

@jman,

The answer to that question was that Buddhism blended in with indigenous cultures. I said that it couldn’t be the answer with peasants in it because I think it stated that it only appealed to peasants, which isn’t true.

How about the qoute where they talked about getting gold from a city called Ophir for king solomon. The answer choice’s were india, middle east, persia, east africa. Now that I think about it, I regret choosing India cause it talked about going there in ships. I am assuming its east africa, but then again east africa wasnt known for its gold and India deff had gold.
Im confused.

I said East Africa. It made the most sense to me but I’m not really sure.

“One of the most famous ancient customers for East Africa’s produce would have been King Solomon, one of ancient Israel’s first kings, a man reputed for his wisdom and wealth, who ruled around the year 1000BC”

I just found that on some website.

Biblical scholars, archaeologists and others have tried to determine the exact location of Ophir. Vasco da Gama’s companion Tom

I really don’t think it’s India. Besides, considering it is a biblical document, I think opinions of biblical scholars would be pretty accurate.

Should I cancel? So far, I’ve got 13 wrong and omitted 6.

No probably not, 13 wrong and 6 omitted is still high 700’s. I omitted 8 and probably have around 10 wrong.

Oh really? is the curve THAT generous? anyways how do you know info about the curve?

just a question…
i skipped around 10 and probably got around 15 wrong. (around 720-750 according to blue book/barron’s) If i want to go to (an elite) college for math/engineering…this score won’t hurt me much, right? I don’t want to cancel because I did well on the other one I took.

esmee, an 800 is usually anywhere between 75 and 80, and it’s not a steep decline even after that

I want to go to an elite college for European Studies or German lang…so yeah, if I do bad in this, it will hurt my chances

The curves are generally around 75-80 for an 800 like wynter said.
I have the released exams.

Which ones do you know that you got wrong?

Here’s my list of absolutely wrong

Confucius

Map of Holy Roman Empire

Map of Mexican trade

Map of Mexican trade

Least Non-Violent

Ottoman Empire Map

Africa for Africans

Here are the one’s the CCers are debating on that I might have gotten wrong:
8. Karl Marx
9. Mesopotamia mother goddess
10. Roman influence
11. Ghandi cage poster

And that’s only the questions that CCers are debating on. I don’t remember the other questions.

What’s the one about Confucius?

I forget the question but I was between it stressed the community over the individual and it helped the person understand the world through mysticism
