I probably got around 15 wrong and omitted 3
sigh…not a good test

The picture of the lady was Socialist Realism I think. And the following question was about the Soviets.

It pictured a woman working in an industrial setting with children playing in the background. I felt it was an attempt to illustrate the “perfection” of the industrial Soviet society.

That’s why I put those answers.

haven’t responded in a while so here are what I put and reasons for the discussed questions:

sumerian god - mother god because it said that made the society matrilineal which it wasnt and the gods were childish because they feared the rivers and the gods acted like humans (some weird word they used in the barrons)
Influence in central american in 20th - definitely US, mexican rebellion of 1910, Panama Canal
Gandhi - two questions regarding him, the first one with the cage was that the rebellion had a cultural and a religious aspect because there were gods and because he and nehru were trapped, the other q was about the nonviolence, the question said LEAST NONVIOLENT and the passes in south america in 1910s WAS GANDHI if you watched the movie Gandhi haha we watched it in class, so the answer was mau mau in kenya because they were very violent against the british
Roman influence - was definitely the greeks because it said at their height, ever heard of Greco-Roman culture? expanding on the ideas during the golden age, the practice tests the answers were etruscans cuz it said at the beginning
First city - tigris and euphrates cuz sumer was the first civilization so it had the first cities
Two maps - one was holy roman and the other was ottoman
Mahayana vs. Theravada - Mahayana regarded the Buddha more as a god so it was like they looked at him as a savior of personal salvation or something i think that was choice C
Pillars of Islam - this question was worded weirdly but it was charity because that is alms, it indirectly said alms
Women poster - I put feminism cuz that was my gut feeling and skipped the other question
Manila Galleons - silver was the first question and China for silk and porcelain was the other answer I looked it up in my barrons after I skipped the second question there too

I have two questions of my own: most of Alexander the Great’s empire consisted land from the Persians or Athens? I said Persians because they had more land than the Greeks had and Athens wasnt really an empire
Also, the one about the Franks and Jerusalem I originally put Crusades but then Grenada wars but realized it was Crusades when I got home because they were unsuccessful in regaining Jerusalem, which is what the Muslims were worried about. I thought the Franks did not participate in the Crusades because they ended in like the 800s-900s
And finally, the one about Buddhism during the Han empire I was stuck between blending into Chinese culture or appeal to the poor, I ended up putting appeal to the poor because Neo-Confucianism didnt come until the later Tang Dynasty

Yup, that was right. Socialist Realism and the idealist socialist russian society or w.e

@jman,

the question about non violence was the mau mau uprising in kenya. The question wasn’t asking about nonviolence, it was asking about which one was violent.

Womens poster was socialist realism.

The quote with Franks is christian grenada wars I think because the Franks were happy, so why would they be happy not to regain Jerusalem?

Sumerians did have a mother god.

good thing I omitted the second question, the word that the barron’s used to describe sumerian gods was anthropomorphic which means that they acted like humans and were the architects of natural disasters

I put the third crusade, but idk

Here’s another slew of questions:
Just as a note, I skipped 8 total and know I got about 1-3 wrong already…
British vs. Spanish empires - skipped it, but looking through this thread I have found an agreement on the centralized bureaucracy
Viceroyality of Spain - torn between Mexico/Colombia, but I put Mexico
Marxism - that capitalism would destroy itself and lead to socialism
Difference between Chiang/Jiang and Mao - Communism obv
Garvey was Africa for the Africans
Enlightenment had the most effect politically because of the revolutions in the 18th century in Latin America
Mesoamerican culture’s defense against disasters - skipped that one
Slave records - skipped that one too but was leaning towards African chief’s records because the ship records and plantation records would not take into account how many died on the way, the African chiefs could document how many were taken from rival tribes or Europeans directly
Developing/Developed nations - I put that developing nations have not put a stop to population growth which has hampered the environment
The letter about finding Asia was Portugal because Spain “claimed” that they had found Asia but Portugal had found or was on the way to finding the actual Asia whereas Spain had found the New World

And yes, I did get a lot of As and Bs in a row even like 3 C,D,Es in a row at times

Oh also to support the letter to Portugal was that Vasco de Gama landed in India in 1498, the choice said 1499, so the guy in Portugal was telling the king that “they”=vasco de gama’s fleet, had reached Asia, originally I thought “they” were the Spanish

Yeah the Portugal one is definitely right now, the more I think about it, the dumber the choice for Marco Polo seems.

Seems like most questions I had difficulty with I was correct according to the general consensus on this thread.

Can anyone confirm the answer to the Franks vs. Muslims quote excerpt question?

I put the third crusade but I’m having second thoughts after the test because the Franks were only around until the 800s… The third crusade was 1100ish…

Any clarification? :/

I said the Christian conquest of Granada but I’m not sure.

The Granada War (Spanish: Guerra de Granada) was a series of military campaigns between 1482 and 1492, during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs (los Reyes Cat

Slave record was the slave ships, that I am almost certain about.

Etruscans - Wrong
Marco Polo - Wrong
Karl Marx - Wrong
Consensus about middle class and suburb growth in second half of twentieth century in developing countries?
Sumerian Gods - Wrong

I left 8 blank and have at least 5ish wrong.

Considering it talked about the muslim defeat at Acre, it’s got to be the Third Crusade as it’s all taking place in the middle east and Grenada for the christian campaign was in spain.

Also, I’m pretty sure the major influence on Rome during its zenith was Greece, since the Etruscans were an early influence but were detested by the Romans and thrown out (politically). Just think about how Greek slaves were commonplace as teachers and craftsmen during Rome’s glory days.

And is there consensus on the Sumerian gods question? I put no mother goddess because it also linked it with matrilineage and the Sumerians were patrilineal (afaik). Also the Sumerian religion had two primordial beings (male+female) making a Father of all gods, Enlil.

What did you say for the question in regards to developing countries in the second half of the twentieth century?

I said the growth of middle class and suburbs I think.

^^^ exactly what I put and was thinking for Greeks/Sumerian Gods, Acre was near Constantinople and Alexandria, so you’re also right about Third Crusade. Also, the Third Crusade was a failed attempt at a capture at Jerusalem, so the Muslims saying that we now have to worry about Jerusalem means that they will have to fight to save it next… Personally, the Franks part threw me off because Franks declined after the Treaty of Verdun in 843. I didnt know much about the Reconquista, besides the fact that it was an 800 year long struggle between Spanish and Muslims since the Umayyads conquered Spain, so I thought it could be the Franks in 800 because the conquest of Spain was around that time so they might rebel against them in the same time… idk I was just thrown off by Franks

For the developing countries one with immigrants and middle class and suburbs I skipped that one but I had a hunch it was immigrants of guest workers, not sure. The other one about developing and developed countries was like population increase contributing to environmental problems

Wasn’t the other developing country one about them not wanting to change because they didn’t want to stop economic growth?

i thought it was population problems because besides the chinese nobody has curbed population

Yeah for that question i put the developing countries didnt want to adopt the limiting pollution regulation becuase it might hamper their economic growth.
