I’m a freshman who has only completed one year of world history. For some odd reason I thought it would be smart to self-study the second year and take the world history subject test. I did so bad – I got a 550. I’ll be retaking it next year as a sophomore after completing AP world history and will do much better. Will this score hurt my college admissions, even to schools that require all scores?
It will look bad sure, but most colleges don’t really even care about SAT II’s. If you retake, they’ll surely only look at your better score
If you are taking AP World Sophomore year and score well on the AP exam, I see no reason to retake the SAT subject test.
Few, if any, US colleges accept AP scores in lieu of Subject Tests. So if the OP is planning on applying to a colleges that requests or requires Subject Tests, then that’s what s/he should submit. Now whether, the OP is better served taking a different Subject Test instead of retaking WH is a different question. But I don;t see a 550 enhancing an application.
@skieurope say I get a 750 or higher next time I take it, will the 550 still hurt me for schools that don’t allow score choice? specifically georgetown, cornell, etc.
These colleges say they focus on the better score. I personally choose to believe that statement. YMMV.
