I’m trying to do the same thing! I took WH this year, and I’m using the Kaplan textbook. I kinda have to agree with everyone that Kaplan sucks. The way the book teaches makes no sense what so ever. Waste of $20 :(

My parents made me take the Kaplan course too for the SAT. All it is, is practice. Waste of $1000 just to practice a bunch over the week.

So the moral of the story is that a Kaplan textbook may cost $20, but the Barron textbook (that comes w/a CD of 2 extra practice tests) which costs $30, is a lot better. (And I have the Barron textbook in Math 2 and Chemistry).

Barron’s Math II practice book may honestly be the worst SAT prep book in history. It’s not that the questions are too hard, it’s that the format of the questions and the type of the questions are completely different from those on the actual subject test. The Princeton Review’s 2009 version of Math II is also a joke, since it has pretty much the same content as the 2008 version.

Kaplan’s Math II book was the one I primarily focused on, and it was the one that got me the 800.

i got the Barron’s AP World History and SAT2 World History books but couldn’t decide which i should use to prepare for the SAT…which one do you guys recommend?? some people say that AP World History is sufficient for SAT…but how about the one specially designed for the SAT??? wouldn’t it be a better choice??? ~thanks

So if you take IB history (which is mostly 20c dictator history) and study with a Barron World History book for around 3 weeks - 1 month before the test, is it possible to score decently on the World History SATs?
