Self-study for World History SAT II

I have to have 3 subject tests for Georgetown and so far I only have one in US History which I got an 800 on. I'm looking to take Literature and World History, and while I'm fine for Literature I'm not sure what to do for World History. I haven't had an AP World class so other than some outside knowledge I'm pretty underprepared for the test. I have to score really well on this one because I'll only have one shot at it in December. Are there any books that could help me self-study? Should I be getting AP review books, just SAT II prep books or both?

Anyone? Bump

Yeah it’s pretty easy to self study its just big picture stuff. Get Barron’s Prep(for the SAT 2) and you’ll be in good shape. I got an 800 through self study so it’s possible(though I was already very interested in World History)

Alright thank you! I have a natural affinity for history (I’m obsessed and its my favorite subject) so it shouldn’t be to difficult. Do you think I should purchase an AP World prep book too or nah?

Just get the Subject Test book, because Subject tests test high school level material, whereas the AP exam tests the college level material. So naturally, there is lots of overlap, but the AP book might leave you with some gaps. Also, I liked the Sparknotes book for the US History one (fabulous score by the way - I’m jealous! I got a 750) because although it’s easier, it really broke down some of the complicated content. Also, there’s this YouTube channel called CrashCourse that has like 50 ten minute videos designed for AP World that is wonderful for review and learning overarching content.

@rosebud30 thanks for the info! And thank you about the US History score, to be fair your score is really awesome too :). I know people that would kill for your 750, you might do slightly better on a re-test. I got a 760 my first try and then I got a 800 my second try in June.

Did you have basic knowledge of World history learnt from school courses, for example when you self-studied? If not, how did you prep?

I am a Canadian student, looking to apply to American colleges, but many of them require taking SAT 2 US history exam. But, since my school doesn’t offer US stuff, I have to self-study for the test, with almost no knowledge of US history…

In my case, what could be the best way to prep for the exam ? T^T

@Actualizer‌ um I have not taken the US History exam so I can’t advise you on that one but the world history one didn’t really have a lot of US stuff on it anyways. I did have a world history course in 8th grade but it sucked so I don’t credit it for my success. Frankly I’ve always loved history and have devoured as many books as I can about it. Prep wise I bought the Barron’s Sat World History 2 prep book, read through it and took a practice test. After that I read through it all over again, focusing on my weaknesses and took the second test. After that I just browsed it haha. This was all about two weeks before the test.

Hey guys, it would make sense to attempt every question on WH sat 2 if you can eliminate at least one answer, right?

Two days to go for the exam and I get about 50% of the Barron questions wrong. I’m hoping that the last day of cramming will help me. God save me haha
