How good are the Kaplan tests (2005-06 edition)? How about Barrons' tests? Are they reflective of the real test? What about the curve? I get conflicting curves - someone said -7 =800, but kaplan says -12 = 800. Its a major difference on an SAT...

bump...someone answer please!

Cmon people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^^

i want to know too

I'd like to know as well, I'm taking next Saturday...

How good are the Kaplan tests (2005-06 edition)?
I was scoring around 760s when I took them and ended up with an 800.

How about Barrons' tests? Are they reflective of the real test?
I don't know, never had the Barron's book.

What about the curve? I get conflicting curves - someone said -7 =800, but kaplan says -12 = 800. Its a major difference on an SAT...
According to the Real SATs book the curve is you can miss 10, provided that you answered all the other 85 correctly.

when you did the kaplan tests, did u score 760 using the kaplan scale?

No, as a rule of thumb I never use the scales provided by anything other than by CB. On the otherhand, the tests may be harder in the book so Kaplan's scale may be adjusted for its tests.

how does the curve go down after -10?

Here is the real SAT curve for your reference.

80-95 800
79 790
78 780
77 780
76 770
75 760
74 760
73 750
72 740
71 740
70 730
69 730
68 720
67 720
66 710
65 700
64 700
63 690
62 690
61 680
60 680
59 670
58 670
57 660
56 660

I scored 700 and 800 on the 2 Kaplan tests and got an actual score of 800 on the June World History. I thought the Kaplan tests were a tad bit harder. The test in the Real book is a pretty accurate indicator though.

Wow thats a pretty easy curve.
I took the AP World History exam last May and got a 5. Right now, I found out that I need 3 SATII tests in different areas. I already have Math IC, Japanese w/Listening, and I need another one.
Should I take the SAT II World History? Unlike the AP test, do you need to know a lot of facts?

bump....any input on barron's?

Its not that hard of a test, granted you lock yourself away and read and reread Barrons and Kaplan at least twice. And as for the practice tests, I scored like a 720 and a 730 and still got an 800. And also, don't skip questions if you can eliminate at least one possible answer.

I read Kaplan (05/06) 2 times, and now I'm working with Barron's. Next week I'll make all the tests from these 2 books and will pray for an easy Saturday test :)

barrons is VERY detailed and long...so good luck.

Here is one very interesting question for all of u world history sat-takers:

In their long-lasting history the Papal Estates were moved only once out of Rome in the middle of 14 century....Where exactly ?

If I remember correctly it was to Avignon, and for a while there were 2 popes.
I know that this kind of a question would more likely show up on an AP Euro test than AP World. So, the World History SAT II includes more European history?

Avignon Papacy which was ended by the Council of Constance. Yay Catholic Schools!

So, the World History SAT II includes more European history?

Not really. I'd say half-half between European and Asian/African/South American.

Okay folks,
check these questions:

Which is the first religious writing ?

Which US state is named after one of the most famous and controversial European monarchs ?

:))
