SAT January 2012 - Critical Reading

I guess the traffic engineer makes more sense than government official lol

jimmypod. did you put like badergy and MIMIC for the quadergy one?

@hello
The passage said that the engineer got on a boat and went to different places to help instill the new laws, analogous of a person who works in one place, but goes to other to share advice.

i got lot of influence i think.

For one of the traffic light questions I put the answer that had to do with being confused since it said they didn’t know why they were putting the new law in or something. I don’t remember exactly

drac do u remember anything else–did u get resentment,

Yeah I got
resent limitation
policeman was polite
something about gaining influence

@jimmypod I don’t think it was elude. Forestall’s definition is 1. Prevent or obstruct. 2. Act in advance of in order to prevent. It would make sense that aging remedies would “prevent or obstruct” the superficial aspects. It wouldn’t make sense if it was elude. You’re not escaping them, you are preventing them.

For the traffic one: the man went to Paris to teach social issues, not traffic. It said that he fraught about how to act to on another. Analogous to a government official (who is good at what he does) teaching at a smaller scale on something he wasn’t in before.

Hard Q’s I remember
What do the caldwell, the photographer(I can’t remember her name) all believe in?

I said that people should take part in social change.

The Phyisicst clock passage:
Is the passage objective instructive(I think it was instructive)
or
is it concerned and inquisitive

what else do u remember…did u get the farming cultivated land…thing, umm…how about photography…how caldwell, stryker, and another guy thing? did u get for the question that passage 2 would add as “did it distort the subject?” cuz i thought he talked about how a camera lies and stuff.

I said something about social change.
I said objective instructive.

I put awe for the one about the singers, wasn’t sure at all about it.

same answers as u drac, what else do u remember from the clocks?

@Divy1234

I sincerely hope you are right. That would mean I have 2 wrong…

@drac313
I got objective and instructive

Also, for the musician passage, what did you guys put for what the author thought of the people listed (from the doom party or something)?

@desi

I got distort as one of the answers as well.
PS: I am 100% on the recycling analogy.
He went on boat to different countries to do stuff after his success.

forestall also is synonymous with to delay

did anyone say the people in thhe traffic passage needed help both with traffic and with behavior/interactions

@llmack
2. Yes that is right.

i dont think had musician passage…is that experimental? and yah i got something with behavior, did u get standardized the need,

@Drac I got objective and instructive because I did not really see any concern because they said at the end it was an established fact.

BUT SERIOUSLY: Am I the only one that gets excited after taking the SAT, thinking they do very well, but go onto collegeconfidential, see what everyone else put, and feel like fighting my computer and screaming IT WAS SO OBVIOUS… ,
.
.
.
or maybe it is just me?

What was the answer to that question about car moving as slow as human and never building a car that slow?

What was the answer to the one that asked about walkers and cyclists are who ______
