SAT January 2012 - Math

For the dog one, is it okay if I put exactly 36?

YES. 36 is right. At least you weren’t me, and somehow figured the dog to be 18? in when it said it was 24…

was there more than 1 correct answer for the dog question?

Yes. Anything +/- 5 from 36. My brain died when I saw the problem, and it somehow went 24 inches = 18 inches so I did 2/3 x 18 and put down 27… go figure.

That’s what I thought, but it seemed strange that there would be so many correct answers.

Why wasnt the dog 41?

cuz it was w-1.5x=5

and x is the length. they give you
length of 24.

plug 24 in you get w-36=5
then you get w=41

Can we get an updated list of the problems we’ve come to a consensus on?

41 is an answer. it is exactly 5 away from 36

@sat100 me too about the diameter thing!! ugh!!! =(
-2 right now…720??? ***!!! =(

@ Swedish I believe 41 will be accepted, since it is not more than 5 away from 36.
You had to do
1.5 x 24 = 36
anything from 31 to 41 will work.

@ sweetgirl I believe -2 is moar liek 770.

-2 at the very worst is a 740.

Also, what was the one on p and t.

it was like p=ks
s=nt

k and n both constants

i just said p is directly proportional to t

someone help??

@swedish it was t

@ swedish agreed the answer was “t”

what do you mean its t?

as in p=t?? how though?

p=knt
and kn are constants

Directly proportional means that as t gets larger, p gets larger.

I know, it does doesnt it?

p=nkt

lets say n=3 and k=5

so p=15t

if you increase p, you increase t

That’s exactly why the answer was “t”…

they arent equal tho??
the nk constant makes t a different number than p

omg someone please explain in depth for me… i really dont get it…

and the problem for ABP ratio of tri… was the answer choice E? i disregard the exact answer but just want to know if anyone remebers it as it being E
