Eh waddup. My first 800! Surprised since I skipped and had to guess a few questions.
musicalmatrices - do you have a link on the percentile rank? I believe you especially since DS also scored 800 with 81st percentile rank. Just seems strange to have that many with the high score.
@brazos21 If it were my son, I definitely would have him send both the Math 1 and the Math 2 scores because I would want admissions to see that he was one of the rare kids who was able to get 800 on Math 1. Lots of people don’t use score choice and just send all the scores anyway, so it wouldn’t seem unusual to send both. Congratulations!!
@aprilludgate Each score has only one percentile associated with it. From this 2015 chart, you can see that if you scored an 800 in Math 2, then you did better on the test than 81 percent of the other test takers. So 19 percent of the test takers got a perfect score. That doesn’t mean they all missed no problems, or even that they missed the same number of problems. It just means that CB set the scoring so that you could miss a certain number of problems and still get a perfect score. It does seem odd that they set the scoring to be so undiscriminating at the top. They don’t do that with the Math 1 test. On the other hand, it is nice that lots of kids who take it get to experience the joy of getting an 800.
@bosdad BunnyBlue answered your question very nicely in post #243
It’s not strange. The percentiles for most Subject Tests are depressed because few schools require/request them. The ones that do are generally the elite ones with low admissions rates anyway. As a result, the students who sit for these exams are very self selecting. If you think 81st percentile is low, check out the percentiles for Chinese and Korean.
Hello everybody, I have a question regarding what / how you studied as I took the same test but did not score that well. What books did you guys use?
Thanks!
I got 690 in Chem, 700 in Eng Lit, and 760 in Math 2.
Any advice ?, thinking of retaking Chem, any other subjective test to consider ?
Thanks
