I'm a current senior in high school, and I am planning to take the SAT in January. The colleges which I am applying to allow January as the latest date for the SAT. And I was wondering--should I aim to improve my Subject Test scores in January or take a final try at the SAT I to improve that score?

Here are my current scores:
SAT I: 760(reading) 690(math) 780(writing)
Subject Tests: Math II 770, Biology 670, Literature 680
ACT: 33

I cannot take the SAT in December due to schedule conflicts, but I'm really wondering which score(subject test or reasoning test), when improved, can increase my chances of getting into colleges. Thanks

try to bring up the sat1 math. colleges usually put more weight on sat1s. you obviously have the potential to do better (with a 770 sat2), so you can definately bring your sat1 score up.

Ivies put equal or greater weight on SAT IIs. Less competitive schools put more weight on SAT Is. In general, the more selective the school, the more important the SAT II score.

None of your scores is so bad, you perhaps don't need to retake any of them...but if you must, here is my simple minded logic:

If you try to improve SATII scores you can improve 2 and maybe take a third subject in one sitting, while the SAT-I reading /writing are already good enough so at most you will boost your math component. Really, 690 is not so bad when combined with a high SATII math score!
