SAT Score emphasis

Well here's the story.

I started out with a low freshman GPA, but it constantly went up. By the end of junior yr I should have a 3.7x weighted GPA and a class rank of top 15-17%. However, I am taking an extremely difficult course load: (16 Honors courses, 8-9 AP Courses)

My SAT scores on the other hand are great -
- M: 800
- V: 730
- W: 700

One sitting, (M+V) = 1530, (M+V+W) = 2230

My EC's are alright, about 3-4 leadership positions in some clubs (one presidency)

I know I can only apply to one college at NYU and its between CAS and Stern. I want to major in business, but I'm afraid if I get rejected from Stern I can't go to NYU at all, so it might be safer just to apply to CAS and be an econ major.

Do I realistically have a chance at Stern despite the low rank or should I just go the safer route and apply to CAs

You may have trouble getting into stern with a class rank lower than top 10%.
However, econ CAS is NOT a substitution for stern. You will have MAJOR trouble getting internships/jobs out of it. Even if you manage a high gpa in economics (which is tough, its a hard curve) you won't have the all around knowledge to compete in the technical interviews, and most of the on campus recruiting in top finance jobs/internships is Stern only. I'm not saying its impossible (my friend in GSP got a BB internship as a sophomore, it was because of his frat....but I wouldn't count on that) But do you really want to risk $200,000 on a bet that has such bad odds?

Thanks, I was thinking along the same lines that if I'm gonna pay that much money I might as well shoot for Stern. I just wanted someone to justify my thinking I guess :) Any other suggestions or input is welcome
