SAT score

I know people say that there is no minimum SAT score for any college but what would u guys say is the SAT score Cornell will be looking at?

i think 1300

really? That would be like a 1950 on the new SAT... I would say more like a 2100+

Of course, everything is relative... if you have a bad GPA and EC's, obviously your scores will need to be higher, and if you have a spotless app except for SAT's, they'll give you more leeway.

2100 seems doable ...thanks

it depends on your other stats. perfect GPA, great ECs, other hooks like legacy, interview or portfolio for some schools will "make up for" a below average GPA.

The median is probably around 700 per section, with writing being less important.

Well I was just giving a minimum score that you could get in with I think a good 2150 would be a solid score to get but should aim for 2200+ if possible. My combined is 2290 and I want to go to Cornell

when they say no min they mean no min. the other things you bring to the college can make up for (or a lack of them can be made up by) your SAT score.

Posting your admissions profile lets us see a wholistic view of you and make our estimates on where you stand.

Well as far as that 1300 is concerned, that is more likely to be Math + CR rather than a conversion (ie. Math + CR + W -> Old SAT). The writing section isn't as important as the others (at least that's what is seems like).

yeah, until colleges have seen a few years of writing scores and get a feel for what kind of indicator of success the score is, they're not going to put too much weight on it. (source: NY Times)

The Cornell site says it doesn’t look at the writing scores at all. It requires close to 750 in sat maths and 720 in CR. it gives a lot of importance to the essays and recommendations. And the GPA is extremely important. If your application lists a lot of extra curricular activities then they would be big help. By the way you didn’t state if you are an international citizen of us citizen

I got in through regular decision with a 2060. Don’t stress too much about the SAT as long as it’s above 2000, just make sure your activities, grades, and essays are really high
