My DD got the $7,500 with a 33 ACT and a 3.94 average but her school does not rank. I think that is the reason she didn’t get the $15k
My son got $7500 for a 1420 SAT but because we are OOS and not top 10% (top 20%) he did not get the 10,000.
@ny1517. Just like @Baxter126 our school does not list class rank on transcript or publish class rank. However when I read the school handbook it stated that they do actually have them for internal use and “scholarship or service academy applications”. It further says that if the student thinks it will help they will give the number. Knowing how Clemson was about the top 10% thing I contacted dd gc and asked for the rank. It was top 10% so I asked him to include that in his gc recommendation. Whether he actually did or not I can’t know but she got 15k.
I would suggest contacting your gc and asking if they have the internal number that you can provide to Clemson if it’s top 10%. If that is not an option I would reach out to school to see if you can find out how they came up with 7,500 and if they could do more
@burghdad thanks for the good advice, I will contact gc to see if she falls in the top 10%. I have a feeling that Clemson calculated ber in the top 20% & that’s why she got the $7,500.
My daughter was admitted in the first wave (early Nov?) - $15k/per year. She had a 33ACT and ~5.1 WGPA. Two years ago her older sister got $10K/year, with a 31 ACT and ~4.9WGPA.
anyone hear for Clemson nursing yet OOS?
No word on nursing, yet!
Waiting here, in Va. for good news on 2/15.
same for d @fall2018 ! Hoping for good news. Where else did you apply? We are also in VA.
Holding out hope for my D as well for Nursing.
28 ACT, 3.97 WGPA, OOS, NHS ,all Honors and AP’s. She’s in at PITT and Ohio State. Waitlisted at PSU and UMASS. Good luck to everyone
DS OOS received $15,000. 1550 SAT/34 ACT, Top 1% of graduating class 4.0
@S18D20mom congrats. Was that received today?
@simple0920 no, he applied EA and heard in December.
Still waiting on Nursing here too. I’m in at UNC-CH but I am attracted to the direct entry program at Clemson. Will have to make sense financially though since Clemson is OOS for me.
@ncnrs2be congrats on the unc-ch. my oos dd rejected with 35act and 4.0uw.
We’re from NoVa
D applied to 8 schools very early in the early action process
Got a bit nervous as reg. decision deadlines were approaching & added 3 more schools
So far she’s been accepted to 3
deferred to 3 (Yes, UVA is one of them), but is holding out for Clemson, as it’s 1 of her top 3.
Any one hear this week?
Hoping the letters went out already or soon. I know they went out the week of the 15th last year.
@mweb136 - you mentioned above that you had a friend whose daughter was offered another $2500 later on. Do you mind if I ask if that was merit or need basis ? My son was also accepted to UNC Chapel Hill but they don’t have engineering there. He will most likely go to Clemson however it is about $10,000 more when you factor in the honors college (if he gets in there) … so he is ttrying to offset the cost by getting another $2000-$3000 more . He has been applying for outside scholarships for months. When I called Clemson financial aid office to check to see if he could apply for any other scholarships - they said that there were no more. (only more if he qualified via FASFA)
@Chris1229 you’re in NC? Did he apply to NCSU? They have a very good engineering program.
Daughter received acceptance letter this week. She applied for nursing but the acceptance letter said she was accepted for Biology major which was her 2nd choice so assuming she did not get into the nursing program. ACT 30, 3.9 unweighted and 4.8 weighted gpa. No mention of any merit award at all, a little surprised at that since most indications were that she would get $7,500 merit. We are OOS. She was accepted to UNC-CH as an in-state student and is leaning towards attending there. Congrats to all the newly admitted Clemson students!
@Chris1229 we are in the same exact boat as you. However, we have committed to Clemson, but have requested the additional $2500.00. That is a non-resident grant. My son received a 1420 on SAT and you need a 1360 to be eligible. So, he totally qualifies there. However, Clemson said they do not think we will be eligible as it really is more of a need based merit award.
