SAT Scores for the School of Foreign Service

Hello!

I recently submitted my application to the SFS, but, I've still been slightly uneasy, almost entirely because of my SAT scores. Combined (from two sittings), I have an SAT Score of 2160, including a 750 for Critical Reading, 640 for Math, and 770 for Writing. As you might imagine, my main concern is my math score. My strengths are in critical reading and writing, and I'm worried that my math score of 640 might put me below the threshold, especially because Georgetown does not consider the writing portion.

I know how important the other factors are, but at this point, will that math score be too much of a 'ding?' If Georgetown doesn't actually consider writing, will they at least acknowledge that it is substantially higher than my math score? I'm a bit confused about how that process works, but any information or viewpoints would be much appreciated.

i hope not cuz im in the same boat but with my CR score at a 600 and my math at 730

It is more rare to get a very high CR score, than a high M score, so your CR 750 will be very beneficial. Your math score is below what they usually want to see, but is by no means a disqualifier. You may want to sit for it again and send in an updated math score if you do really well. But it will not be worth it unless you learn hwo to solve some of the problems you missed and recognize some problems that you will not answer correctly and skip them.

I wouldn’t lose sleep over it, though.

Did you apply EA or RD?
