hi there!
i need some help with my SAT strategies.

i've taken the test twice, and the first one i got:
CR-540
M-690
W-620 (essay score of 9)
Total: 1850

the second one, alas, i'm waiting for april 24th.

with practice tests i'm more calm, so i can usually pull off 1900s~2000s. in math i have scored up to 790, and in writing even a range which the max was 800. but then again, only practice tests.

i have the collegeboard book, the barrons book, the kaplan 12 tests book (which is full of errors by the way), and i can always borrow the princeton one from my sister. i have subscription the the online collegeboard course, and i did all of their practice tests before april 1st.

i'll be taking another test in may, so any advice on how to improve my scores?
i'm thinking 2200 or higher, which should be awfuly hard because i have like two or three weeks now. THANK YOU!!!!!

Uuummm don't skip breakfast? ><; That's my advice. :/ Wait, I didn't know Kaplan 12 Tests book is full of errors. ><; On which tests?

they have a bunch of typos, and for these two tests they used the same um,, what do you call them- tiny passages(?) for two different essay topics.

i loathe kaplan.

any ideas?

i think i'm in a similar crisis as you.
But we will see the scores on April 24;
only thing left to do is just memorize vocab words:)

I'd also suggest learning more vocab. It helps a lot even in the critical reading passages.

Borrow your sister's princeton review book...it's much better for CR. And I totally agree on learning more vocab. Big help.

It is an incredible help. I was doubtful at first when people suggested learning vocab to increase my score... but after reading many, I improved from the high 500's to 700 something.

silver moon where did you learn your vocab from?

yes, silvermoon, i would like to know, too. my sat teacher tried to the use the ancient method of making my own flashcards, but it's only tiring if you are making more than twenty in a day. -_-lll
right now i have these cards that fit right in my hand (word and sentence on one side, def. on another). they work pretty well, but i have like two thousand (literally!) and there's no way i'll actually consider memorizing them all.
