SAT Subject Test U.S. History

I have never taken U.S. History in high school but I did take IB world history HL with history of the Americas, if I self study a lot for the U.S. History SAT subject Test II will I be able to get a good score or is it really difficult?

I had just taken the AP exam the day before and should most definitely get a 5, however the Subject Test was my worst performance of the 3 tests I took that day. However… it also has the best curve, so I should still get an 800, but it is a tougher test. Are you thinking of taking the test in a week?

sMITten, did you find out what you got on US History?
I actually thought I did well on the AP, and I aced the class.
however, I didn’t do so well on the Subject Test.

I just got a 780 on it. Here’s what I did:

I took the AP us history class (you won’t have that, so disadvantage there …)

Take ALL the Sparknotes tests (they are good!!)

Use APUSH review materials.

After taking the AP exam the SAT History was a piece of cake. You either know the stuff or you don’t when you take the test.
Read through the whole sparknotes guide as well that they have - it helped me a lot.
I can’t really differentiate between whether the good score was due to the AP class or just reviewing. Personally, I think you could self study and do fine. I probably forgot most of the stuff I learned after each test in class anyways. Just spend the summer studying and you’ll do fine. Good luck!

Just got a 790 on it, here’s what I did:

1) Took the APUSH class with a poor teacher. Didn’t really learn much from here.
2) Read AMSCO instead of our assigned pageant textbook for our chapter tests
3) Crammed with REA before the test
4) Took the released 1996, 2001, 2006 APUSH MC Exams
5) Repeat step three

From my experience, the tests themselves are not that difficult if you know what to study. REA is excellent for this purpose. Although my score my speak otherwise, I do not consider myself an expert in history at all, not even a good history student. My friend (who LOVES history and is much more adept at it than me) happened to also get a lower score. She knows much more than me, but unfortunately (or not) the CB US history exams only test a small (and manageable) subsection of it.

lol, my score is lower than the previous two, but i got a 770, here’s what i did:

  1. You should use the crash course through us history book, that’s what i used (keep in mind i was also studying for the AP test)
  2. read a chapter or so every few days. Highlight the important info!
  3. Reread the ch. and make notecards.
  4. Once all ch’s are read, go through your notecards.
  5. TAKE AS MANY PRACTICE TESTS AS YOU CAN!!!
  6. Then i took the AP (but just skip this step)
And there you go, you will get a 770+ good luck!!

Got an 800. Took the AP class, with a competent teacher, and paid attention, for the most part.

I scored a 790. I took the AP class with a competent teacher, paid attention… That was about it. I took the AP exam the day before the SAT subject test. Really no prep beyond what was generally covered in class. Our final was a released AP exam, so I did that prior to those exams.

Practice tests in general are great prep.

Got a 770 by:

1)Taking APUSH with an amazing teacher
2)Not using a prep book until the last two months of APUSH
3)Never taking a SAT II USH practice test in my life
4)Studying my *** off.

I know I’m going to get stomped on for this, but I really wanted an 800. It just looks good, ya know? But I’m content.

What I did:

-Took the APUSH class (but teacher was highly incompetent, so no help there)
-Read through AMSCO chapters up until imperialism (should have read more…)
-Took 3 SparkNotes tests
-Used this website ([USQuizMainPAge](USQuizMainPAge)) with practice quizzes on them. They’re really good, seriously try them out. There are quizzes for each time period, with MC and fact recall questions, and they cover just about everything.

Out of all of them, I’d say that a combo of the AMSCO book (READ THROUGH ALL OF IT) and the quizzes on the website worked the best.

DIRECT HITS: US HISTORY IN A FLASH

This is the greatest review book I have ever purchased. Had no problem on the test.

walk in the park.

Guys, is there a chance that somehow scores can get messed up?

I just think I did better on my test… In the days after the test, I compared my answers with those posted on the “May Official US History Thread” and I was sure I got less than 6 wrong…

Wasn’t this test supposed to have a good curve?

hey fantasma can i please have the apush released examss?? i want them to study for the app PLZZZ!!! :D
