UPenn requires two subject tests. Apparently it's suggested for science applicants to take math and science subject tests, but it also says "applicants to the college should take a foreign language test."

However, I already got 800 on both Math II and chemistry, and I've taken French all for years of highschool (enriched/pre-AP/AP), and I've had 94-95 in the class every year. I'm also planning on taking the French AP test next Spring.

Do you think I should still take a French Subject test in this case, or any foreign language test at all? (btw. I'm not a native French speaker - not from Quebec either)

BTW. does anyone know if the Penn online supplement is online yet? They said mid-august, but it's already August 20 and I don't see it yet..

Where does it recommend a foreign language be taken? I’ve never seen that before in any of the admission sessions/admission webpages for Penn that I’ve seen, unless the information has changed since last May or so.

If so, then I’m in a lot of trouble. Our school has a horrific language department, getting the AP Spanish class into my schedule took about two months of wrangling with guidance because the only class period conflicted with the only AP Calculus period, and I’m positive I’ll get no greater than a 400 on the test because our language department is horrific (2s and lower all around for the AP test). Nor do I have the time to sufficiently self-prepare before the November/December test dates. :(

someone showd me a link…under the test section is says something about language…but i doubt it’s required since you only need 2 subject tests, and a science applicant is recommended to do sci/math as well…

and about ACT…it’s a bit too late for that lol…i’m still planning to do SAT 1 again in Oct…

oh…i think the Penn supplement can be accessesd directly through Common App is that right? But it’s still not available yet apparently, even though they said it’d be out “mid august”…

Funny, this is the first I’ve ever seen of this. I suppose I’ll mention it in my interview that I had NO IDEA about this requirement. Just fitting my last year of Spanish per their requirement of four years of Spanish took about a three month battle with the director of guidance and was so involved I want to list it as an extracurricular…

A language test is not required, just suggested. However, if you do get in and have a 650 or greater on one of the tests, you are exempt from the language requirement. I think you’re allowed to take it after you’ve been accepted too.

oh alright…but I mean, if I don’t take it would it affect my admission chances?

I could probably pull off 650 without studying too much but…being me i’d overstudy for it anyways, and idk if I’d have the time to do that in gr12.
