I read that UPenn requires 2 SAT subject tests for any subjects. Will they accept more than 2? Are they more likely to accept me if I submit more than 2?

I got an 800 on Chemistry, so I'm definitely submitting that. I got a 720 on Math II, and I don't know whether or not to submit that. Any sites with statistics on what kinds of scores UPenn is looking for would be great. I'm expecting a good score on Biology, so I'll submit that. If I got a 720 on Math II, should I take Math I and expect to get a 750 or higher? Also, I am in Spanish 5 Honors...how hard is the Spanish SAT subject test?

Such a specific case and so many questions, I know...but any information would be great!

Penn requires you to submit your whole testing history so you’ll have to send them all anyway I would not suggest taking the Math I though because most Ivies prefer Math II. In reference to the Spanish subject test, if you’re fluent then go ahead but otherwise you may not want to unless you prepare in advance. Language subject tests are notoriously hard

Also, Penn prefers you take SAT subject tests based on the school you are applying to. It’s not a requirement but it shows interest. Which school are you applying to?

Haha…does this mean that I’m basically guaranteed to be rejected because of how bad I did on the Math II?

I want to be a premed, so I’ll probably just be applying to School of Arts and Sciences.

Spanish: I’m not fluent, but by prepare do you just mean buy a book and study it like other SAT subject tests? I can do that.

I wouldn’t say that! A 720 is definitely not an auto reject so as long as your other stats are fine I don’t see it being too big of a problem. If your grades in math classes show that you are proficient in math then the admissions office will understand that it’s just one test and does not reflect your full potential.

Since CAS has so many majors Penn does not prefer any tests over others so that’s good!

I personally have not taken any language subject tests so I can’t say. Just a warning though, many people take language subject tests for their native language, which makes the curve harder than normal tests. I would take a couple of practice tests to see if it’s worth it or not.

I have a 90% in Precalc Honors and Alg II Honors. Hopefully that’s ok…

I think practice tests are a good idea.

Thanks so much!
