How does UCLA look at SAT scores? Do they see all scores equally or only look at M + CR?

UCLA looks at the highest total score from a single test date.

Do they consider the SAT Writing? This would work in my favor if they did by the way.

I don’t get what you mean by “considering” SAT writing score. After all it’s one section of the SAT I, so they have to consider it somehow. On the UC app they let you put down scores for all three sections of SAT I. It’s definitely a good thing if you have a high score in that section.

That being said, I don’t know how important it is compared to Critical Reading. I think Critical Reading is more important, but that’s just my opinion. They’ll have to look at your score collectively.

Also, if you get higher than 680 (don’t remember the exact cutoff, but you can google it) on SAT I writing, you can get rid of English Composition 3 (which is normally a mandatory writing course for all students), so that puts you a bit ahead than others.

It’s just however the writing score is factored into the overall score. UCLA is not going to pull your SAT essay and review it; at least not for admission evaluation.
