SATII and AP test

I have a question guys!!! and girls....excuse me
What is the difference between the AP test and SAT II test?? I mean I will be taking some AP classes this years, and planning to take the AP test...but I heard some colleges require students to take at least 2 SAT II....What's the difference???? Should I take the SAT II and not the AP test???or vise versa?... It's just that I don't see the point of taking the same subject test twice...for example I am planing to take AP chemistry...and the AP chemistry test...and there is a SAT II chemistry test...should I take one or both??? IDK....really confused...some help would be greatly appreciated.

AP tests are primarily used for college credit, whereas Subejct Tests are primarily used for college admissions. No school requires AP tests for admission, but many top schools require two Subject Tests. Subject Tests are graded on a more precise scale, allowing for greater differentiation. They are usually less advanced than AP tests.

silverturtle’s answer is right but I thought I would add in my two cents here. :)

I took AP World and the SAT II World History test. I scored a 5 on the AP exam and a 630 on the SAT Subject Test. For me, the AP exam was more broad and I was able to think my way through the questions. I found them very analytical. But, when I took the subject test, the questions were MUCH more specific. I found the subject test much more difficult.

I felt that AP Chem’s MC was much easier than that of SAT II Chem. However, the Free-Response portion counterbalanced the MC’s easiness and made the AP Chem exam a bit more difficult.
