There are some changes effective Jul 1, 2011 for SAP. I'm working on two bachelor's degrees and time frame changes may cut off federal aid for me. Do credits I earned in high school while doing dual enrollment have to be counted toward the 180 credit hour cap for federal aid? What about AP credits from high school--do they have to be counted toward 180 cap. Thanks for any help on this. I can get the 180 up by petition at my college because one of my majors requires 134 credits, so 150% of that would get my cap up to 201 allowable credits.

You need to ask your college financial aid office these questions. Yes, the regulations are changing. There are a couple different ways schools can handle SAP now, so you need to find out how YOUR school will be doing things.

Thank you, I received an email notice yesterday from my college’s financial aid office about SAP and changes, and I kinda hit the panic button. I did visit with my financial aid advisor this afternoon and also my academic advisors today and we’ve got a game plan. I’ll have 177 semester credit hrs at the end of this summer term after 3 years at college–I brought a bunch of credits from dual enrollment in high school. I plan on attending upcoming fall and spring terms to finish my undergraduate studies and will end up with over 200 credit hrs. total.
