SATs... argh

Ok, so I took the SAT for the third time in May and I did hideously:

720CR
730M (should be getting 800)
670W (ridiculous, usually get full marks for the MCs - 8 on the essay.. let down)

That makes a 2120..
I know I can get 800 for M, and possibly a 800 for W. CR is really as good as it is going to get for me though.

Does Wharton accept score choice? If so, should I retake for a 4th time? Also, thats make 1450 CR + M (1490 Super-score).. so does it only look at CR+M?

I may apply to UPenn for Economics instead of Wharton because of that god damn SAT score.

If you have already taken the SAT three times, you should probably not take it again. You are most likely not going to improve your score and may even lower it. You are generally not recommended to take it more than twice anyway.
Penn does not accept score choice, but you shouldn’t change your applications plans (applying to CAS instead of Wharton) just because of your SAT score. There’s more to it than that.

Alright. I am fairly confident that I can improve my score to high 2200s or even 2300, which is why I really wanted to take it again. I heard that CAS is MUCH easier to get into in comparison with Wharton, which is why I brought up that idea.

The SAT is not the most important thing and don’t let it stop you from applying to Wharton. If you are solid in every other area and convey your passion for both business and Wharton, then you still have a shot.

I was admitted to Wharton with a 2120, even after I was deferred.

What were your other statistics and ECs though?

-3.57 UW GPA
-670 Math I
-740 French
-16 Awards
-Three leadership positions
-Membership in a few clubs
-Raised over $14,000 for charity
-Musical affinity
-Unique community endeavors recognized by the media

Wow. Thanks a lot.

I got an even better score, 2060!!! and I got into Wharton (and I’m asian, if that means anything in college admissions). I didn’t even ED there because I procrastinated and didn’t have everything ready. For Wharton, SATs really isn’t really that important. Take your time and improve on other aspects, especially those 3 essays.

Ha, I got denied from Wharton… They told me its cause my SAT score was not high enough (Got 2090 superscored), so careful when you say “For Wharton, SATs really isnt really that important”

Race, unfortunately, plays a big role in determining whether or not your SAT scores are good enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re not Hispanic or Black.

That’s why I need a higher SAT score. I am Indian and I am an international.

Well, no I am most definitely a pasty white boy. But WOW, for a league that touts how it accepts all and has no prejudices (Im referring to the Ivy League lol) if what youre saying is true @kaisan, that would make UPenn look pretty awful

Up to you, but when I thought my score would go up the 4th time I took it as well and it went down. I spent the rest of my days feeling stupid for even having thought of taking it another time. If you really do improve your score to 2300+, then great. But be warned, if your score doesn’t show improvement, you may be in danger.

" a league that touts how it accepts all and has no prejudices (Im referring to the Ivy League lol)"

Beware of groups of rich white liberals who pompously claim they have no prejudices. Note what sorts of neighborhoods they live in, & whom they allow their daughters to date.

“whom they allow their daughters to date”?

Huh???

And, in slight defense of the neighbourhoods the live in – if you had the money, wouldnt you be living in the same neighbourhoods… I mean, you cant fault them for not living in a middle class suburb if they can clearly afford a higher priced house or area

Look up affirmative action. That will help you understand how the system works.

Take the acts. Perhaps you’ll do better on the acts because it utilizes a different method of thinking. Btw Indian international student is tough especially If u apply for financial aid.
