I'm from california and i applied to notre dame. their application was due on 12/31/08, and i sumbitted it on 12/31/08 around 11:15 PM pacific time. i'm scared they're going to consider my application late, because on the commonapp it said i submitted on 1/1/09. should i be worried? do most insitutions take into consideration different time zones?

That is, strictly speaking, late. The deadline is 11:59 EST, not 11:59 in your local time zone.

so does this mean the $65 application fee that i paid went to waste? why would the commonapp website allow a user to pay if the deadline is closed?

Honestly, I'm not sure. You could try contacting the school and explain your issue. I would imagine they would be understanding.

Some schools accept late stuff.

I read somewhere that it is due but 11:59 on your local time zone. But I don't think a couple of hours late would matter anyway. I don't think anyone at ND admissions office waits up at midnight to get only the applications that came in.

If you are really stressed, just call and make sure they still got it.

i live in washington and i submitted mine at 8:50PST which was like 11:50EST ha i can't believe that. then the payment i submitted at like 8:56PST and so that translates to 11:56EST. then i went out to party and celebrate the new year!!!
now i'm back home finishing up the rest of my apps.
what a way to spend the new year ay ;D

but yeah just call. it never hurts to try.

thanks for the advice :)
