I suppose to check the effectiveness of the Happy Birthday e-mails, they'd have to calculate the yield rate for people with birthdays inside the December 15-May 15 window vs those with birthdays outside the window.

I got a b'day card too. My birthday was January 6th, so it was relatively soon after we found out if we got in. The birthday card was a pleasant surprise, and it included something from one of the essays I wrote so it wasn't so generic. I think that was what made it so cool. Regardless, I doubt that would have a major impact on someone's decision:)

i doubt it would have a major impact on someone's decision just like those magnets they sent us..but it just shows how welcoming the Stanford community is..that's what makes Stanford more attractive

my birthday is the day that Stanford releases admissions... march 31st... so if i get an email from STanford... in the next few days.. thatd be awesome.

aww!! that's so nice of them!
dang, i wish yale did something cool like that. my bday was in jan. didnt stanford also send a second "acceptance letter" to EA admits? man.. they must really want you guys :P

i know, i love cardinal too--it was awesome of them

zena, it's fantastic that you got a personalized card...mine was just like, "hey, now we have two reasons to celebrate--your admission + your bday! hope you'll spend the next one at stanford" sort of thing

and byerly, it has nothing to do with yield rates; i think it was just a nice gesture

Byerly...we'll let you know whether or not we still get these bday cards after we've sent in our deposits (after May 2)..that'll be the true test
