Hello! I was lucky enough to have my enrollment time early this morning so I already have my schedule. I am taking:

MMW 1 -- Carter
LISP 1D & LISP 1DX -- Munoz-Sanchez
ECON 1 -- Foster
MATH 20C -- Eggers
POLI 87 (Becoming Evil) -- Forman-Barzilai

My first question is the typical, does this schedule seem difficult for the first quarter? I am mainly worried about econ because I took regular econ in high school and I did not learn a thing in the class. NOTHING. My teacher suuuuuuucked. And I'm also worried about Spanish because... well, I don't feel like I'm adequately prepared for 1D... So how difficult are Econ 1 and LISP 1D?

My second question is which books do I need? I want to buy my books online and I don't want to buy books I don't need. The list of books I need is below. Sorry it's a pretty long list!! Or is it pretty accurate in the "required" and "optional" aspect?

It’s a good schedule in terms of being challenging enough to keep you busy. Just drop a class if you find yourself in over your head.

Required books are required. Buy the bare minimum, you can always borrow a friend’s study guide or solutions manual (and you probably should).

Are you waitlisted on Eggers, or are you actually in?
I also registered early this morning but all of Egger’s sections were full when I checked them.

I got in
my enrollment time was 8AM but the classes didn’t open up the spots until about 830
so it took me about an hour to get all my classes
because i knew the spots were supposed to open up, so i kept refreshing the page and such

Sounds busy, as astrina said, but from what I’ve heard, language classes are pretty intense. They can be hardcore I’ve heard. Econ depends on the professor and TA, and just go to office hours and ask questions in discussions if you need help. You should be fine.

I’d wait till the first day of class to see what the profs say about books. I’ve had some that tell us “only buy this book…” or “I’ll put the required parts on .pdfs” If they don’t say anything, just buy the required books for now, though I highly recommend solution manuals.

oh and does anyone know what are the most known/most used pathways that restrict biking? and also what are the biggest hills? basically any path that is not bike friendly.

I heard that Library Walk is the most strict area that restricts biking/longboarding, but I’ve seen people bike and longboard there. Biggest hills that come to mind are Peterson Hill and the one by Hopkins Parking Structure. Also, the area in front of Geisel is usually really packed.

I’ve biked down library walk plenty of times, but usually there’s no real reason to do it. Peterson Hill will usually be the most crowded, but even then, you can get up/down it without too much problem.

oh okay thanks
and i was wondering if its worth it to save some of your GEs for your third and fourth year? because the only GEs i have (besides mmw and upper division regional specialization) left are the fine arts requirements.

I haven’t registered yet, will it let you take five classes? I thought there was some credit cap until after initial enrollment and then you could add/drop classes.
