hi there!
i’m a rising senior planning to major in drama. i’m composed my list of colleges, which comes together at about 23 schools. 16 of these schools require an audition. most likely, if invited to an in person audition, i’ll be traveling to new york to audition as most of these schools (2 of them participating in unifieds) – however, it appears as if in previous years most BFA programs audition in the same 2-4 weekends. is it possible to fit 16 auditions in the same 2-4 weekends without them conflicting with one another, or overlapping? am i going to need to trim down my list of schools?
thanks so much for your time! have a great night.
You should find out which schools require a Pre-screen versus which ones don’t.
It’s best to schedule your auditions ASAP as spots tend to fill up.
If a lot of the schools will be at Unifieds you can deinitely fit in a bunch of schools.
Make sure you know how long each audition will average and then you can figure out the logistics of getting to the next audition.
As was said above, if you can get many of them done at Unifieds, it is possible. Scheduling auditions is a true puzzle and will take a lot of planning. Best of luck!
@yikes145 Yes, it is possible, some people do it within 3-4 days. You have to be strategic in submitting your application/audition materials and scheduling these as each school is different. I wouldn’t trim your list if you feel all of your choices are potentially a good fit, it’s competitive out there. Best of luck!
It’s possible to get a good portion in, but just some advice - My daughter crammed a lot in on unified weekend and it was torture for her. Day 1 was so hectic, I think she spread herself too thin. Just make sure you don’t overwhelm yourself too much, especially if you’re not familiar with NYC. We are, but it was still a pain to bounce between Unifieds, Pace and Fordham that weekend. We scheduled NYU the weekend before and while it was a hassle to travel back, the audition itself was a lot less stressful.
