My son was accepted EA. Does anyone know when he will hear about the Scholars program? Has anyone heard yet?

What Scholars program are you referring to ? My S was accepted into a Business Scholars for Pricewaterhousecoopers. Not sure what we are doing yet. Possibly there are other programs on campus that have scholars.

I was referring to the university-wide scholars program.

Hi! I’m in the scholars program. I definitely heard about it AFTER I put down my deposit at Binghamton. I’m pretty sure it was after the deadline where you need to tell schools where you’re going. In other words, I don’t think you’ll be able to hear if you’re a scholar and then make a decision-- you’ll have to already be enrolled at Binghamton first.

Thanks! It would be good to know before making decisions, but it is what it is.

What were your stats/average stats to get in the scholars program?

Mine were 34 ACT, 96.5 GPA. No one really talks about their stats much but I know my roommate was 33 ACT and the girl across the hall was 34. Also, leadership is really important. They’ve actually been kind of annoyed with us lately that we’re not taking enough initiative to be leaders on campus so I think they’ll be looking for more involved people this year. Also, they’re increasing the amount of scholars they accept, so that helps.

I got a letter today saying I was accepted into the university-wide scholars program

If it was an email, would you mind copy/pasting the text? I’m just curious-- I know they’re making a lot of changes to the program but we had to write an essay for it and we didn’t find out until May.

@esheena1, would u mins posting your stats? Was it snail mail?

My S was invited to attend yesterday. He recieved his acceptance to SUNY B (RD) about 2 weeks ago. There will be a more formal invite in the next week or two from the chair of the program. We have put no deposit down yet. SUNY B is definitely his top state school. We want to wait on other financial aid awards before we make decisions. Does anyone know if any scholarship money /grants come along with this program? Did anyone get F/A package yet from them?

I got an actual letter in the mail, no email yet. My general stats: a lot of AP’s, lots of extracurriculars and leadership positions, SAT: 800 math 720 reading and 760 writing (2280).

Im super excited about this opportunity and I wish the best of luck to all of you as well!

Well awesome, congrats! They told us that in the past scholars used to get a full ride. Not anymore There’s no monetary benefits that come along with it (as far as I know, like I said they changed the program a bit but I doubt they’d add a scholarship) but there’s a lot of other incentives. Let me know if you have any questions.

So knowing that you need to have a deposit down to get invited, what are the stats necessary? I have a 96 GPA, 700 Writing, 670 Math, 710 Reading with a decent amount of extra circulars (NHS, Class President, job @ wegmans, congressional internship), what are my chances? I have not put down a deposit because I’m torn between BU and UAlbany. It would be cool if I got offered but I would not be heartbroken if I didn’t.

I received an invitation through both postal mail and email. I have not paid any deposit, at least I hope I did not inadvertently do so. Haha. Anyways, the following is what I received through email:
