You get an email saying that you have received a scholarship which will then link you to the scholarship webpage. You’ll need your Rutgers ID along with your PIN.

SAT - 1450/1600 and 2210/2400
GPA - 3.88 (unweighted)
Rank - Top 5%
Scholarship Amount - $3,500 per year, total of $14,000

@zanetti4 u got ripped off, my friend had a 2210 but like a 1500 something with a 4.25/4.5 gpa, same class rank and got a full ride to pharm, sas and sebs

are you sure phoenixakari? you need to have 2250+ to qualify for a full ride o.o
and yes zanetti, i think you should’ve gotten more too. o.o

Yeah I’m pretty disappointed. This means that I probably won’t be attending Rutgers. Anyway, congrats to the few people who managed full rides.

Rutgers finally responded back to me…I guess I have no luck getting some more money :(

The competition for Rutgers’ first-year student scholarships is extraordinary this year because of the high quality of the applicant pool. Eligibility criteria for our first-year student scholarships is based on a student’s SAT and/or ACT scores, cumulative grade-point average, and class rank (if applicable), and students are offered the highest monetary award for which they qualify. You are a terrific student, and we are very happy to be able to offer you a Scarlet Scholarship. Unfortunately we are not able to offer you a higher award. Scholarship amounts are not negotiable.

Please note that all students eligible for a Scarlet Scholarship are encouraged to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15. The Office of Financial Aid will consider you for an additional Deans Scholarship based on the estimated family contribution (EFC) as determined by the FAFSA. Students who qualify for more money through a Deans Scholarship will be notified in their Initial Offer Letter (IOL) generated by the Office of Financial Aid.

We hope this helps you understand the merit award process.Congratulations on your selection for a Scarlet Award and we hope to see you on campus in the fall.

Sincerely,
Deborah Epting
Associate Vice President
Enrollment Management

D1 has similar stats to zanetti4 and she also was awarded the Scarlett to SEBS. She will attend Rutgers, as it has one of the best animal science programs in the country and she wants to go to vet school. Looking at some of the posted stats, do I think she should have received more, sure, but I’m a proud mother. Based on some of the postings on this thread, it looks like SEBS has a higher threshold than SAS for the higher scholarship amounts.

only scarlet for pharm school had secret hopes for a presidential haha. but it was probably not gonna happen since i’m OOS. 2250 sat, 790 math 2, 760 bio E, 3.8 UW, 4.8 W, no class rank but probably in top 10% at least. kinda bummed since i at least wanted rutgers to be among my options, but when some of my other options are ~90k cheaper…

yea i am sure because in the message from moneymaster, it said scholarships are based on “student’s SAT and/or ACT scores, cumulative grade-point average, and class rank”. my friend had all honors plus aps. so along with the high gpa were challenging classes

yeah i believe you now. my cousin who’s OOS and had <1900 SAT got $8000/year. and she had less than 5 APs total.

Is it possible to get a James Dickson Carr scholarship and a Presidential Scholarship? Are they the same thing? Because I recently received a letter in the mail that I was awarded both for SAS, which I found odd. O.o

Not possible to get both added together for the same school; that awards you more than cost of attendence and Rutgers wouldn’t do that. But it is possible, if you applied to more than one school, to have been awarded the Carr (10K/yr) at one and the Presidential (full ride) at the other.

Post stats and add to the scholarship data set!

When I go to the Rutgers Financial aid site, it says “in February we will announce scholarships” How did all the people on this thread get notified before that?

Well, I don’t think my stats would qualify me for a presidential scholarship. I only received admission to SAS so far, and I was confused by the financial aid packet I got in the mail.

I received three papers:

The first one was basically congratulating me on receiving a scholarship, and it said a summary of my awards were enclosed.

The second one was the scholarship summary, which looked similar to what I already saw online. It said I received the James Dickson Carr Scholarship for $10,000 per year.

The third one was the scholarship eligibility and renewal requirements and it said: Rutgers Presidential Scholarship, “Congratulations! You have been awarded a Presidential Scholarship, the highest honor bestowed upon newly enrolling students at Rutgers University. This award includes an $11,500 yearly on-campus Rutgers University room and board allowance…” and it went on to describe the terms of the Presidential Scholarship.

So I’m guessing Rutgers screwed up somewhere. :/

what were your stats highachiever? they’d probably give you full ride if you’re near 2250. my cousin got scarlet even though hers was under 1900.

Nope, my SAT score is not near 2250.

I have a 1990 SAT, 4.1 weighted GPA, and I’m ranked 13/486ish

That’s why I’m guessing they made a mistake and gave me the wrong paper for the scholarship eligibility and renewal requirements.

It’s still possible it might be real though, right?
But don’t let them get away with it! I remember a few years back something similar happened and a girl freaked out (because she thought she had it…) and they gave her a partial scholarship. I recall people recommending lawyers, parent involvement, etc.

That kind of administrative mistake is unforgivable, if it is that!

I guess it’s possible. I’m not holding out hope, though. It’s probably just a Rutgers screw up.

I was pretty excited opening the letter and seeing the Presidential Scholar paper because a full ride would be pretty awesome.

I should probably pursue this, but since I’m not really interested in SAS, should I wait for my pharmacy admission results/financial aid for that school? Since I’m pretty sure I’ll get less aid for pharmacy. Though I guess I would probably seriously consider SAS if I were a presidential scholar.

whats the link to check for scholarships?
