So, I just got accepted in to the college today. In a separate letter that also came in today it says I will receive the presidential scholarship which will cover my tuition only. However, I am a National Hispanic scholar and I designated this on my application. do you think i will be getting a different letter saying i will receive full tuition, board, stipend etc.? Im hoping they just messed up and are gonna end up sending the other better scholarship offer as well some time soon.

Anybody think that this will be the case?

thanks

I checked my son's admissions material and found three letters dated December 3, 2007. One was from the Honors College and the other two were from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. You will receive more letters now that you have been offered admission to Alabama. My son is a NMF. The NMF scholarship added to the Presidential Scholarship did not get finalized until after my son submitted his school choice notification to NM.
If Alabama is your first choice, I suggest you apply for housing and pay the required deposits for orientation as soon as they become available. My son did not make his final decision until late March. By then, only the last two orientations had openings. He did not select his classes until the first week of Aug.

BTW - Congratulations on your offer and scholarship status.

thanks alot that answers my question perfectly
I would notify them asap but ua is not my number one, only considering it because of the generous offer. But its up there and im sure i will have my decision by mid January. thanks again

for momof3boyz,
D has been accepted to Alabama and she is working on her Honors College app and UFE app today. We have not visited yet and won't until the Capstone Scholars day in mid January. She has no idea if this program will catapult to being #1 or not. If we wait until after that weekend to apply for housing, will it be too late to get into the Honors Dorms?
Even if the money spent on deposits for admission and housing may not be refundable (luckily I can afford it), I just feel extremely dishonest about doing this if she is not yet interested in attending.

There is nothing dishonest about securing (reserving) a spot. You may double check the language on the housing and orientation deposit guidelines. Your deposit(s) might be refunded if your child ends up going to a different school.

Now that on campus housing is required for all freshmen, I would like to think you are still in good shape for securing a spot. As for the Honors Dorms, if your child is offered admission into the Honors College, you will be get a spot if deposits are paid before the spring deadline. Upperclassmen won't begin reserving housing assignments until late Feb or March 09'.

Thanks for clarification on this, momof3
