Scholarship Awards are in!

That is pretty much your final award. If you have all merit with little need based aid, either you don’t qualify for need based OR its already inside of your merit based. One of my friends has high need, received the Founder scholarship, but now has little need based (university aid). If you have a scholarship and need based aid, getting either will essentially cancel the other one out.

They matched 100% of my COA with grants/loans, so idk if I’m attending.

yeah that’s you whole package dude. Mine is 31,740. Your going to have to tell your parents to pay the remainder or get loans. I think I’m going to get loans. I still need a good 2,000 to cover tuition which can come from my parents. The rest I guess are going to be alternative loans to cover room, board, and books/supplies.

D total financial aid package came to $45,450 all need-based aid. 7K of that in loans…we are pretty happy with her package. We had an EFC of 0 to give everyone an idea of how they may formulate packages. Congrats to eveyone!

So if I didn’t get an email yesterday, does that mean I didn’t get any merit aid? (Didn’t apply for financial at SU)

i got my acceptance email yesterday and my packet in the mail yesterday. i applied for need based aid too. how long after you all got your decisions was your aid up on myslice?

mwim, I received an email telling me to view my award yesterday night. Following that, I received a notice of scholarships and now financial aid award. However, the entire award was up immediately after being notified for acceptance. I filed both my CSS/Fafsa prior to the 2/1 deadline, so late applicants might be delayed.

YAY!

Wow that’s an amazing package psteven!

I can cover tuition and most of housing and meals. It would appear I didn’t get any merit-based aid, but I’m certainly not complaining with an award like this.

holy crap congrats on the FA! how much do your parents make? if you don’t mind me asking.
I’m guessing a little over 40k (my pell grant was 1.8k and my dad makes 40k)
I’m just wondering, i didn’t even apply to this school, but i wish i had, SU seems very very generous.

@dshmizil1026
you didn’t receive the pell grant which shows you most likely were not placed in the “needs aid” category, which is why your FA package is the way it is.

@nathalia: Yeah, my parents made just over 40k last year.

This is really weird. My friend at school also got into Newhouse and we have comparable stats. I do sports and a few more EC’s, but she is a much better candidate for Newhouse in terms of journalism EC’s. She didn’t get any scholarship money, but I got 12K a year.

I guess it’s just from my constant contact and maybe showing interest? I dunno. But I’m very excited, especially since admissions told me you competed against people in Newhouse for scholarships if you applied there and not just the entire accepted student body.

Federal Work Study (Fall) $1600

Total Aid Offered: $43670

Everyone says its capped at 12k… now i have creeping fear that there was an error in my offer…

But if not… I apparently just got offered full tuition… O_o

Merit is capped at 12K. There is a full tuition scholarship at Syracuse for under represented minority students majoring in Architecture, perhaps that is what you recieved. Congrats!

Can those of you who got scholarship packages share your high school stats (not asking for financial aid info). Particularly interested in anyone in Visual Arts or the Bandier Program. thanks!

As a sophomore at SU, congrats! Although I don’t know if you are really going to have time for a workstudy job as a freshman architecture student. I would recommend, if you really need a job, to be a RSA (Residential Security Aid) for SU dorms. Basically you check the IDs of students between the hours of 8pm-1:30pm (depending on the dorm to 11 pm) or the late shift of 1:30-7am (try not to get).
