My son just received an email directing him to logon to Myslice and receive his scholarship award information. He was awarded the Founders Scholarship - 12K per year.

i got the chancellors scholarship, but is this in lieu of or in addition to need-based financial aid? the scholarship is all that showed up under my financial aid portfolio but i applied for need-based as well.

The loans kinda trouble me…

Anyway, how much are you guys getting?

Founders Scholarship aswell

I got the $12,000 per year Founders Scholarship as well.
My need-based financial aid was not posted though.

I got 12K founders, 35K total package. Only 7.5K is loans. Sounds pretty solid to me.

in my email it said my merit based scholarship
is this in addition to need-based or is this all i will receive?

It’s in addition, don’t worry.

oh thanks so much. I got $24000 in merit which is awesome.
Do you know when we will be notified about need-based?

Can’t say I do, sorry man. I think it depends on how fast you submitted everything.

Does anyone know how flexible SU’s Financial Aid office is with awards?

got just enough financial aid to cover tuition. I need to take out loans for room and board :(. Also for personal expenses and books. At least it’s better than paying 50,000 dollars a year.

Yea. I don’t really have any complaints about mine, my Dad is just being really difficult with all of this and doesn’t realize he’s actually going to have to pay some of it. Getting like, 5K more a year in grants from them would make a world of difference.

yeah I know dude. I’m pretty sure I’m going to attend, I need to find alternative loans. I might get Stafford loans. For a freshmen the maximum is 5,500. I will still need another 5000 for board. I’ll see what I can do. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

im so confused. i thought my offer included merit and need based awards but now people are saying this is only merit in addition to need based. im going to post all of the figures they gave me and hopefully somebody can tell me if that includes my need based, or is it just merit based. thanks.

I think it includes financial.

Includes both - ours included a student loan - financial and the Founders Scholarship - merit. When I look at yours the Deans Scholarship is merit, the rest financial. Unfortuantely for us, my son received much more merit from the other schools he applied to so this will really not be an option for us.

This may be a stupid question, but are the grants on myslice final or just an estimate?
