Scholarship Day Invites?

Dante09,
How did you get your scholarship invite (email, letter)? What is the date of your scholarship visit?

It's march 27, and it was just a card/letter through mail saying that I'm a finalist for a UNC merit scholarship and that I should attend the scholarship day....

Go to scholarship day! It is worth the travel expense. There are a variety of numerous scholarships on the table...

Why did they make it a friday? And will there be a campus tour afterwards?
But yeah, I'm definitely going

The Scholarships they will be awarding are Carolina Scholars, Davie, Old Well, and College Fellows. If you want to seriously be in the running for one you ought to attend.

Did you apply EA? I did but I was not invited to Scholarship Day. Is it possible to still get an invite for scholarship day? When did you get your invitation?

Does invitation to scholarship day mean that you have been accepted to UNC even though the results for RD come out on March 20?

No, I applied RD. I got my invitation on march 2. I don't know if they've sent out all the invites yet, but you should be getting one this week if you've been invited.

I think a scholarship day invite means that you're accepted...did you received a likely letter too?

I think it is safe to assume that if they chose to as an finalist for a merit scholarship that you are accepted! I'm pretty sure that it also means you are accepted into the honors program..

If you do not eventually get invited, but get accepted, can you still take part in the Honors program?

No likely letter but got a scholarship ay invite for mar 27th saying have been selected for scholarship

macunix,
when did you get your letter?

On Thursday last week

I applied early action, but only recently have recieved an invite for Scholarship Day on March 27... Is that weird? Can I assume that I wasn't good enough to be included in the earliest Scholarship Day, but they automatically moved me to the one in March?

As for being accepted into the honors program, blairb91, I believe you can eventually get into it if you do well enough, just not for the first semester/freshmen year.

Does anybody know how many out-of-state students Carolina generally invites to Scholarship Day? I got an invitation and I'm from NJ =) Definitely plan on attending!

At the EA Scholarship Day in January, there were only 15 OOS students - we asked Dave Meredith. :)

Maziana, did you have to apply for the Honors Program?

stargirl1221/uncgal

Did you go for teh scholarship interview after the admission results were out? I have some people telling that invitation to scholarship day does not guarantee admission. That would be weird for RD results wuld be out mar 20 and the scholarship day is mar 27. :( Kindly clarify. Also, did you have a personal interview during the scholarship day or was is just a group discussion like uncgal mentions?

Yes, EA admissions results came out in early January; the scholarship day was in late Januar, so we attended knowing we were accepted. I received a likely letter & an email from my admissions counselor in December, though, so I knew I was accepted when I got the invite. Don't worry! If you received an invitation, you are accepted.

We only had a group discussion & it was very low pressure. Don't come across as a hyperintense kid and you're fine! :) I received an OOS Carolina scholarship -- Scholarship Day was definitely worth it!

Also, everyone who attends scholarship day gets some kind of scholarship. They're not awarding money to kids they haven't accepted. ;)
