Scholarship deadlines

I know that the deadline is that they must be received by January 15th, but that is MLK day and their calendar says that they are closed. Do you think that they will have to be there by Friday the 12th? or will you get until the 16th?

Thanks.

I'd like to know the answer to this too. Thanks!

The 16th is probably fine since most colleges spend the first couple of weeks sorting stuff so a couple days wouldn't hurt, but I'd just mail it on the 12th to play it safe

It is 'postmarked by', not 'received by', right?

It was "received by" last year, but don't sweat it.

It emphasizes recieved by on the website. It's in italics.

My son called this morning and was told to have everything there by Monday. He asked if he should use FedEx, UPS, etc. (because he probably won't have it ready until Thursday or Friday and the post office won't be open), and was told to do whatever it took to get it there by the 15th.

I just got an email saying that the deadline is pushed back to tuesday the 16th due to the holiday. Hope it helps.

i guess i'll be sending mine in on the 12th or 13th...

Whoa you all made me feel better. Thanks for the info I'll be FedEx-ing either Wednesday or Thursday if they're ok with it then!

"I just got an email saying that the deadline is pushed back to tuesday the 16th due to the holiday. Hope it helps."

thank god...XD
but if i'm sending the apps Friday, do i have to use Fedex?

wait....barce11, did you get a personal permission to do this or is the deadline pushed back for everybody? i visited their website and it doesn't say anything about extended due date.

okay i just sent all my scholarship stuff in, but i want to make sure i sent everything necessary for the danforth b/c there is no website to check against. Can any danforth applicant list what they sent please. thanks

It wasn't a lot of stuff, since you do grant them access to your file with most of the things. So I just had the one slip filled out front/back, and my essay, and a resume thing, but that was superfluous.

excellent. finally all done...and i can sleep with a peaceful mind.

I called Admissions this morning (Thursday) and was told someone would be in the office on MLK day to recieve packages that were sent by express mail. She said nothing at all about extending the deadline.

My son will be express mailing on Friday or Sat. morning. (UPS express will deliver by Monday if they get it Sat. morning--for a price, of course.)

My friend's mom called and they told her it would be fine if it was a day late because of the holiday.

There seem to be conflicting responses...!

i emailed the undergrad admission office and the counselor said we have until the 16th. i wonder if it's safe to mail it on Friday>< should i use Fedex?

is the post office open on mljk day? if it's closed because of the holiday like wash u is...then you guys still have the same amount of days to do it...

i turned mine in a few minutes ago. better safe than sorrrrryyyyyy.

With so many opinions and questions about this my son called again today and was told it had to physicially be there on Monday, even though the campus is closed and even though the post office is closed. He was specifically told to send it by a courier service if necessary and get it there Monday.

It seems as if they're giving conflicting information.
