Scholarship notice with acceptance?

Will any scholarship information Be supplied with acceptance, or will merit be evaluated separately?
Also, if invited to apply for Honors, will potential related scholarships be decided after that application is evaluated? Are some students auto-admit to honors, and if so, do those students still need to complete paperwork for additional merit money?

Merit scholarship came separate from acceptance letter. Dont believe students are automatically admitted to honors college and think everyone that is invited has to fill out SSA because scholarships come from various sources not only Honors College

Thanks. You are THE source of good info.

I have found CC very helpful. There are a couple of posters on this forum that have given me a lot of great advice about IU. Being OOS it has been extremely helpful. Just try to help out when I can

As mentioned in another thread, if your S meets the criteria on the Hutton Honors College web page then he will get an automatic invite into Honors. A separate Honors letter comes with the invite after the acceptance letter. If invited to honors, he will get an invite to complete the on-line Selective Scholarship Application ( SSA). From this, there could be additional merit money given by Hutton. My D is in process of completing SSA. Even if she gets no additional merit money from Hutton, she can still be in the honors college if she wants. The initial merit scholarship letter came after the acceptance letter and Hutton letter.

My son was invited to fill out the SSA paperwork as part of his acceptance letter (first official acceptance notice - yoo hoo!), but there is no mention of honors. Should I assume he will get that notice soon or should I call them? I remember reading admission to Kelley will come later.
Thanks again

1214mom I also had not heard anything from the Honors College so I called today. They told me they had sent me the packet in Sept but I had not received it. They are sending a new one to me.

If your S logs onto his SSA account and pulls up the introductory page, there should be some mention of Honors at the bottom. The actual Honors invite letter should come in another 2 to 3 weeks after the initial acceptance letter.

Thanks. I think he had to do something last night, and then wait 24 hours to access much information. We will try this weekend.

So excited… Scholarship notice today! now I have to press him to get the SSA done.
Doing an extra research assignment is not his idea of fun, but I think he will do it.

1214mom…glad to hear that…have him use something he researched in high school as a starting point

That may very well be what he does. Thanks

Congrats 1214mom! That was when I knew my daughter’s first choice was IU - she was willing to do the IU SSA application! She decided not to do the selective scholarship apps for her other two top choices. It’s tough when you think you’re finally done with all of the college apps, and then there’s another round of applications and essays for scholarships. She did recycle a high school research paper for the IU SSA research essay.
