Scholarship Notice?

im waiting for moog... although no call yet

im waiting for fitzgibbon and anikas...anyone??

Ok, this is ridiculous. Instead if hearing all of you contemplating when the notices will come, I did the sensible thing: I called the university and asked!

They said that finalists will be notified for all scholarships sometime in MID MARCH, so all you can relax, take a deep breath, and go do some homework! :)

Honestly, I was freaking out for the past two weeks as more and more people said it was in February, but now I am relieved, and all of you can be too.

Cheers

I'm not sure if that's true. A friend who is a Mylonas said she would be receiving a full list of finalists by Feb. 27th, I believe, which would indicate that they notify sooner than March. Also I'd imagine it'd take some time to coordinate travel plans, etc., and "mid-March" is cutting it kind of close to the actual scholarship weekend (especially since a lot of the kids receiving scholarships at WashU will probably have scholarship weekends elsewhere). And lastly, at least two people on the other scholarship thread have already received notification via a phone call (today and yesterday).

well, since someone just posted in a different thread that they heard about Danforth, and since interviews are mid-March, I would say you are wrong.

At least it doesn't seem like too many have been notified yet, so hope floats.

In the past actual notification has been during the last two weeks of February, although the official line has been that they notify in March.

Then how come when I spoke to the ladies in the undergraduate office, they specifically told me mid-march?

When I talked to them, they said early March although that seems rather shady is comparison to these other posts.

Because that is the official line. Think about it, the first finalist weekend is March 22 - 25. They have to notify, make airline reservations, have tickets issued and delivered to the recipients. There is no way they could accomplish all that if they notified in mid March. I can just tell you that in the immediate past notifications have taken place during the last 2 weeks of February. Finalist should know within the next 2 weeks.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but my guess is that they notify scholarship finalists sometime in the latter part of February and conduct interviews in mid-to-late March. As Jegan3 said in post #24, that time-frame would give finalists time to make travel plans. It would be grossly unfair if they notified you in mid-March and told you to get there immediately.

Of course you need to recognize that there's a difference between being notified of being a finalist and notified of receiving a scholarship. Maybe the admissions office meant the mid-March date is for the final decisions.

The finalists Interview weekend schedule is as follows for this year:

March 22 – 25 - Conway/Proetz Scholarships—Art; Fitzgibbon Scholarship; Dean’s Scholarship Program in Business; Ervin, Danforth, Rodriguez

March 29 – April 1 - Compton, Mylonas, Moog, Lien and Nemerov scholarships

Very good point, blackeyedsusan. ... Thanks for the info, ST2.

Final decisions will probably not be unitil the week after interviews at least I would think. So the end of March for the March 23 interviews and beginning of April for the ones at the end of March. Those being offered interviews were told they should hear about them the 3rd week or so of February

Final decisions are made after the Scholars Interview Weekends, which are help for the purpose of determining recipients. Recipients are usually notified about a week after their interview weekend.

Hi all, Jegan 3 reported on the other thread (Update Scholarships) that her friend got a Danforth call yesterday.

Dear prospect students, please, don’t get so anxious about phone calls for scholarships, neither desperate because you don’t get one, last year my S received a scholarship and he didn’t get any call before…so, cheer up, enjoy your senior year, don’t waste your time worrying. :)

Hi, Cressmom. Could you explain how that worked for your son? Did he just get notice in the mail inviting him to come for an interview as a finalist (but no phone call) or did he receive scholarship notification with his acceptance (without an interview)? Thanks!

Not all scholarship winners will get a phone call or go for finalist weekend. If i remember correctly, for certain scholarships the finalist is only a narrowing down for the full tuition scholarships, but others who are not finalists are still given half tuition or the other awards. Only finalists go to washu for interviews, but the others still may receive scholarships
