Scholarship Notification

SB - my son did complete a personal essay. Sent in one LOR and one GC rec. I hope they are able to staighten out the homeschooled documentation. Seems a little unfair for you guys.

Thanks, Kleibo. I guess we will just wait and see what happens.

I did the personal essay and one letter of recommendation. My GC just asked me a few days ago when the app was due meaning she had no part in the admissions or scholarship considerations.

Sent from my MB502 using CC App

Has anyone gotten a merit scholarship that is not full tuition?

I’m in-state with 1290 math and verbal but very well rounded and from a rigorous, top ranking high school.
I’m hoping for at least $3000, but I got my acceptance letter two weeks from yesterday and still haven’t heard anything. But I heard merit was first come first serve?

I am waiting for an admission’s decision letter! So nervous. I sent 3 LOR and the essay (wish I would have waited a couple weeks because I made it SO much better and sent it to other schools!). CR+M is 1380, hoping for SOMETHING! This could be the most financially sound decision, although this is not my first first choice (which happens to be a reach school)

For those of you who received scholarships, congrats! Could you please post your stats so people can get an idea of what’s required?

I think I need to stop reading this thread, I’d thought she had a good shot but I’m getting so nervous about my D possibly NOT getting tuition…congrats to all and I’ll be back soon hopefully! LOL. Sort of.

Full Tuition and Engineering Scholarships are from different sources within the University. The Engineering Scholarship is awarded by the School of Engineering and the Full Tuition from the University Honors College. My older son’s letter from the School of engineering came about a month after the UHC letter. They are indeed stackable… very awesome!

Hi, everyone, just reporting in that a full tuition honors scholarship letter arrived in the snowy mail today for my D, containing an invitation to apply for the Chancellor’s. Anyone who remembers me from the “Acceptances are beginning” thread will recall I was skeptical she’d receive a scholarship since they seem to be stingy with the instate ones.

How pleased I am to have been wrong!

Here’s what I posted before about her app:

She’s also an NMSF.

BIG CONGRATS Podvig - what is your daughter’s major?

Thanks, kleibo, congrats to you, too. She thinks biology, but not pre-med. She just applied to A&S for biological sciences.

A little part of me hopes she gets shut out from all the more selective schools she’s applying to, so there won’t be any reason not to take this offer, lol.

Got the Full Tuition letter in the mail today
CAS

@sbj… S did not submit any letters of recommendation or counselor rec. He did do the essay (I think it was required for scholarships).

Thanks all for the feedback on when the scholarships arrive.

agnijay, when did you get your acceptance letter? I got my 10/7 so im hoping to hear soon about scholarships!

How long does it typically take from application to acceptance to scholarship notification?

@xc… It was dated 10/6 but I got it 10/15

Hi Podwigs, wondering if your D got invitation to apply for GAP program as well as Chancellor’s scholarship? Also, would be interested to know if any one got accepted to both…Seems like they are looking for kids with different profiles to accept into each of these categories…Any inputs from anyone appreciated…

Hey! I’m not podwigs, but my gap invitation and scholarship letter came separately.

agnijay— when did you send in your app? I electronically submitted 10/9 and they updated my account to say they got my scores (last thing they needed) either early last week or early 2 weeks ago.

Anxious to hear.

I understand Pitt reviews applications in last name order for acceptance. I am not sure if they follow the same process for scholarship review too. The peole who got the scholarship notification can you specify your first letter of the last name. My daughter got the acceptance letter dated as 10/5 and haven’t got any scholarship notification. Her last name starts with ‘V’.
