If you meet the SAT/ACT and GPA qualifications for the President’s Scholars, is it not guaranteed that you will get it?
I’ve searched around and found conflicting information about whether or not they are automatic based on stats. If anyone could clear this up it would be great.
they have been automatic for the last 3 years. i know at some point prior to that, they were not automatic. could you pit a link to the current info from Temple so i can look it over with you? if you go to temple admissions on the web, there is a pdf file that shows the qualifications. Sometimes, Temple changes the qualifications so i would like to see what is currently showing on Temple’s website.
It doesn’t really say anything about them being automatic, but I guess that if they have been for the last 3 years then I guess that they should be for next year.
the sheet looks similar to the years when they have been automatic so you should be good there. i know between teh class of 2014 and 2015, the GPA and SAT scores went up a little for the top scholarship(3.75 to 3.8) and 1400 to 1420, and as you have likely noted, Temple only looks at some courses for the gpa. therefore if you are close to the line in either test scores or GPA, i would contact Temple admissions and/or honors to see if they plan to change the criteria for the class of 2016. i suspect that if they change the criteria, it would only be a small change but it would be wise to check if you are close. or you can wait and see. i am pretty sure Temple supercores so you could, if needed, retake a test in the fall if you need to up your test score. just make sure Temple has new test scores by jan 15th.
probably. my kid had some A- and i think even some grades that were B+ at his high school but which were between 90 and 92. he qualified for full tuition scholarship so it appears Temple either treated those grades as an A, or they may have weighted one of his 90 grades, since his high school transcript noted that grade should be weighted by 1.1/. key principle from our experience and other posters is that whatever formula Temple used, it usually fell in the student’s favor/
